Dell SonicWALL Network Security Basic Administration (NSBA) course description Audience: System engineers, channel partners, service partners, end users Course description: The Network Security Basic Administration (NS-102) (Formerly Network Security Essentials) course provides students the required background, knowledge and hand-on experience to begin designing, implementing and troubleshooting Dell™ SonicWALL™ Network Security Appliances running SonicOS firmware. This course requires the prior completion of several e-Learning courses. This course is NOT a substitute for the prerequisite e-Learning courses. Prerequisite skills and knowledge are required – the first lab exercise is based on prerequisite knowledge and begins without formal instruction (see below for prerequisite details). The NS-102 course culminates with the CSSA Certification exam for Network Security. While this exam is not a part of the class, you will have access to it on-line via your personal work MySonicWALL account. Prerequisites: General networking knowledge and experience: Basic knowledge of networking concepts, network topologies, and the OSI model of networking protocol stacks Understanding of TCP/IP, network addressing, subnets, and Network Address Translation (NAT) Knowledge of basic router concepts Familiarity with IPSec functionality and implementation e-Learning: (http://www.sonicwall.com/us/support/eLearning.html) Network security technology overview (~4 hrs online course): For the student that is new to network 1 security, Dell SonicWALL offers the Network Security Overview course. While this course is not a prerequisite course, it is strongly suggested. Network security essentials course prerequisites (~6 hrs. online course): The foundation course for all others, the online Network Security Essentials course will provide you with critical foundational information concerning firewall technology, security risks and remediation and network security design and implementation considerations. Additionally you will learn how to configure and implement Dell SonicWALL firewall appliances, and extend the firewall’s capability using rules, security applications and other network specific functions and troubleshooting techniques. Virtual Private Networking with SonicOS course prerequisites (~6 hrs. online): A critical follow-on to Securing Networks with Dell SonicWALL OS, Virtual Private Networking with Dell SonicWALL will give you a comprehensive education in core VPN technology, design and implementation considerations. You will also learn about Dell SonicWALL specific VPN configuration and deployment as well as troubleshooting techniques. You will be tested on all of this material. The Certification exam is available on-line via your personal work MySonicWALL Account. You will be given an activation key that will allow you to access the exam up to three times. Any participant who successfully completes this course and passes the certification exam will be deemed a Certified SonicWALL System Administrator (CSSA). The exam is administered outside the class. 180 minutes are allotted for 60 questions. A passing score is 80% or higher. The exam covers all course material including eLearning content. At the end of the exam you are immediately notified of your exam score and if you passed or failed the exam. Upon successfully passing the exam you will be sent an email containing your CSSA certificate. In addition, you can view your certification details, such as the certification expiration date, on MySonicWALL. You can also print your certificate and access the CSSA certification logo for use on your business cards, email signatures, and resume. Duration of certification: All Dell SonicWALL Certifications are good for two years from the date that you pass the exam.
