Lehmann, MD, PharmD, Medicine, developed a new elective MDCN 2210: Clinical Pharmacology Honors. Near the completion of the second year, motivated students are asked to consider broadening their knowledge base in pharmacology to benefit their future patients. This will be accomplished by identifying one or more representative clinical cases during the clerkship experience and developing a derivative theme in clinical pharmacology for eventual presentation and/or publication in a peerreviewed format. Examples of the theme can be (but are not limited to): an interesting problem in therapeutic drug response, explaining a treatment resistance issue, or in-depth coverage of an important adverse effect. To do this the student will be working 1:1 or in a small group setting with the director over the course of the third year, particularly during the medicine and/or pediatric clerkships.
