Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service. Jerry Laubenthal Jerry Laubenthal, 55, of Burlington died at 9:01 a.m. Nov. 21, 2013, at his home. Jerry was born Nov. 1, 1958, in Fort Dodge, to James and Aileen Laubenthal. On Aug. 26, 1983, he married Tammy Cline and they had one daughter together, Brandy Michelle. They later divorced. Jerry then met Sarah Dyer and her infant daughter, Ashley. Jerry and Sarah had a long relationship and he raised Ashley as his own daughter. Jerry worked for KPI for over 13 years. He loved to ride and spend time with his horses. He also enjoyed spending time at the shooting range, playing chess, reading, playing cards, watching the sunsets and traveling to California to see his daughter Brandy. He loved the hot Southern California weather. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Jason Jackson of Palm Springs, CA; Brandy’s mother, Tammy Laubenthal of Ottumwa; his sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Lloyd McGallion of Bacliff, TX; his special daughter, Ashley Dyer of Cedar Rapids; Ashley’s mother, Sarah Dyer, also of Cedar Rapids; aunts and cousins. Jerry also left behind many special friends including two very special friends, Tiyger Lee and Scott Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend, David Reynolds. Jerry’s wishes were not to have a funeral and only to have a private burial next to his parents in Kossuth Cemetery. Jerry’s daughter, Brandy, is working on honoring her father’s wishes. Mrs. Cosgrove lived in San Diego and Quincy before moving to Hamilton. She graduated from Palmyra High School and Gem City Business College in Quincy, worked more than 50 years as a real estate agent at Brown and Mating Real Estate in Quincy and in 1972 opened Cosgrove Real Estate in Hamilton with her second husband. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and BPW, both in Hamilton, and Keokuk Yacht Club, and a past member of Keokuk Country Club. She enjoyed gardening, lawn care and cooking. She also enjoyed wintering in Punta Gorda, Fla. Survivors include three stepchildren, Colleen Robertson and Jim Cosgrove, both of Hamilton, and Joan Dornacher of 29 Palms, Calif.; nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one stepgrandchild, her parents, two brothers and one sister. Kendall Engen Kendall B. Engen, 46, of Oquawka, Ill., died at 1:37 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, in the emergency room at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Ill. Born March 8, 1967, in Burlington, he was the son of Bernard Kendall Engen and Pamela Jean Dixon Lumbeck. He was previously married to Rosalee Lynn. Mr. Engen worked several years at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, then worked at jobs in the Burlington area. He grew up in Oquawka and Gulfport, Ill., where he attended the Gladstone Grade School and graduated from Union High School in 1985. He then attended Carl Sandburg College where he majored in “baseball.” He played and enjoyed fast pitch baseball all his life and competed at the national level. He also enjoyed golfing and Facebook. Survivors include his mother of Oquawka; one son, Kyler Engen of Oquawka; one stepdaughter, Genera Tansey of Burlington; and one brother, Kevin Engen of Oquawka. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. The visitation and service for Mr. Engen will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, where family will receive friends. Family will have a private service at a later date. Born May 7, 1940, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Woodrow and Freeda Hale. Ms. Wormington was a 1958 graduate of New London High School. She retired from JAC Products in Ann Arbor, Mich., after working there for many years. She moved from Ann Arbor to Overland Park seven years ago. Survivors include one son, Jason Wormington; one grandson; one sister, Shirley Ann Blint of New London; two nephews; and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter.
