Luis Fernando Ramirez Pesina, public relations officer for Ministerios, and Carlos Garza, Oasis’ pastor, received a donation of $1,700 from Extreme Motor Club and Street Warriors, two local racing car clubs. Garza said that the clubs’ donation will make a difference for the children at the orphanage. “They had some races the past weekend, and they called us because they wanted to do a fundraiser for the Ministerios De Amor,” he said. Ramirez said officials decided to open a Ministerios De Amor in Nuevo Laredo because there are many homeless children in this region. The funds will be taken to all the Ministerios De Amor across the country,” he said. Garza said there are already many interested in helping the organization, but still want more people and other organizations are needed. “We are trying to get other entities that are already involved in missions to come and see (Ministerios De Amor), and hopefully they will want to get involved with it,” he said. “We would be more than glad to show people what we do in Nuevo Laredo before they get involved.” Garza said a lot of people do not know that donors will be able to deduct their donations from their taxes.
