Bedminster Township School Parent Teacher Organization Meeting Minutes (unapproved) April 8, 2014 Welcome Comments -- Marisa Austenberg, President Thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered for the Spring Fling. Spring Fling programs are available tonight and will be in the closet if needed. SHEF summer enrichment brochures are on the table. Dates on the district calendar have been set for 2014-15. PK inclusion lottery will be held on May 7 at 4pm in the library. Kindergarten screeening will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 4-6pm and Wednesday, April 23, 9:30-2:30. Principal's Report, Corby Swan -- Read to the membership. Attending the 24th Annual Paul Robeson Achievement Awards at Raritan Valley Community College to support 8th grade student Vaughn Rice, who is being recognized. Thank you for attending the Faculty/Student basketball game. Thursday April 24th is National "Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work" Day. Permission forms must be completed and returned on Friday the 25th in order for the absence to be considered excused. Students will be responsible for any work missed that day. On Tuesday April 29th we will be having an Academic Achievement Night. It will be held at 7:00pm in the Cafetorium. The NJ ASK Testing dates are as follows : Grades 7/8: April 28-May 1, 2014 and May 5-9 for Make-up Grades 5/6: May 5-8, 2014 and May 12-16 for Make-up Grade 4: May 12-16, 2014 and May 19-23 for Make-up Grade 3: May 12-15, 2014 and May 19-23 for Make-up This week, April 10th and 11th the Drama Club is going to perform The Little Mermaid. Please come out to support them. Also, Teacher of the Year Nominations are due April 9th. Teacher Representative, Chuck Hogan -- I had a great time at the Spring Fling. I am looking forward to the Staff Appreciation Day. Correspondence and Approval of Minutes ● Thank You from the Administration for funding the majority of the Tutor/Mentor Program. ● No March minutes to approve. Treasurer’s Report --Marisa Austenberg--The inflows for March are $21,082.90 and outflows are $3,127.00. As of March 31, 2014 our bank balance is $57,720.07. Final numbers from Spring Fling will be posted on the website and the May meeting. Preliminary numbers: ads-$14,950; admissions and baskets--$19,436.90; before night of--$34,386.90; night of baskets and ipad raffle--$1,426; silent auction--$11,435; 50/50s--$1953 (our take). Total inflow--$49,200.90. After expenses--($13,416) $35,784.67. Final numbers to be presented at May’s general meeting. New Business Staff Appreciation Day--Wednesday May 7th. Please help with menu ideas, as well as making food and volunteering the day of. PTO Executive Board Positions for 2014-2015 -- Vote held by ballot. All positions uncontested; unanimous “Yes” for all positions. President: Suzie Stevinson Vice President: Kori Edwards Co-Secretary: Anna Spitaleri and Marisa Austenberg Treasurer: Laura Govan Congratulations to our new PTO Board. Parent Advisory Group -- Amanda Villamar. This group is an open forum, support group and resource for parents with children who are in Special Education, working with the district and providing input in SE matters We are currently developing new goals for the group. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, April 29 at BTS at 6:45. BOE Budget Workshop -- The Budget workshop will be Monday, April 21 at 7:30; parents encouraged to attend and have your voice heard. The final hearing is Thursday, April 24at 7:30; both meetings to be held in the cafetorium. PTO Budget Meeting -- Our meeting will be May 29 at 7:00 in the faculty lounge. This is a public meeting; please come. Old Business Kindergarten Screening and Registration -- Thank you Kim Rich. Screening will be April 22, and 23. On Going Committees Homeroom Parents -- Suzie Stevinson, Mary Kessler, Liza White-- Thank you for the classroom baskets. Programs/Assemblies/Author Visits -- Faith Costabile and Lis Loeb. There were scheduling issues surrounding snow days. Two programs have been set already for September and October. Planning more for the next year. Helping Hands -- Ellen Reyda. No requests made. 8th Grade Fundraising -- Gina Fernandez. Finished for this year! Scott Lefurge -- Thank you to PTO for generously funding the musical and enabling the use of microphones and sound system for participants. Meeting adjourned at 8:12
