Devon nominates their Small Town Hero
EDMONTON (JULY 4, 2012) – Proud Devon residents and volunteer wish grantors, Mike and Laurie Keindel,
worked tirelessly to nominate local wish recipient, Nathan, for UFA's Small Town Heroes Contest.
Nathan wished to have a backyard skatepark last August and has made the town of Devon proud by making a
Make-A-Wish video that is at over 42,000 hits worldwide. He is a hero to all kids and he is the coolest guy in
Devon. Laurie explains her reason for nominating Nathan and choosing Make-A-Wish as the recipient of funds,
"We have had at least 4 wishes granted in Devon and we know that we have been blessed. Please help us pay it
back the way wish child Nathan wants us to."
To help garner votes the Keindel's have put together an amazing video staring singer/songwriter Kym Simon,
CISN FM’s Chris Scheetz, and Canada’s Got Talent finalist, Laheeb Quddusi, all of which are Devon celebrities
and philanthropists. The video starts out featuring Devon’s Ballet For The Young and is crashed by Mayor
Fisher and her skateboarding skills with her councilors and their career-killing bodybuilder posses. The video is
empowering, cool, and extremely entertaining. Though Nathan's nomination is a late entry, the Keindel's hope
to make up for it with this inspiring video entry.
If Nathan's nomination wins, Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta will receive $10,000.00 as well as proceeds from a
Paul Brandt concert. People can vote daily on the UFA website until July 22 to get Nathan into the top 25 small
town heroes.
Win or lose, kids who are sick will see this video and find strength in its message. Please join us
tomorrow for the video launch and see Christopher Walken, President Obama, Golem, Stewie from
Family Guy, and all of the crazy cast and crew:

Make-A-Wish® Northern Alberta grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human
experience with hope, strength, and joy. The Northern Alberta chapter will grant 80 wishes in 2012 with the help of trained
