DESCRIPTION OF FINDINGS & CONCLUSIONS
A. Description of Facility
This daycare center is located in the West Branch Community Center in Gwinn,
Michigan. The following rooms have been approved for child use, with a total center
capacity of 21 children:
Before and After School Use Room:
17 ft. X 10.5 ft. = 178.5 square ft. (maximum capacity: 5 children)
Main room: Preschool Area
An L-shaped room with the following dimensions:
25 ft. X 11 ft. = 275 square ft.
18.5 ft. X 16 ft. = 296 square ft.
Total: 571 square ft. (maximum capacity of 16 children)
There is a bathroom in between the two rooms with two enclosed toilets. One sink is
located near the bathroom in the Main room.
The center kitchen is not approved for child use at any time.
There is a fenced-in outdoor play area that is approximately 1500 square ft. with a
variety of gross motor equipment.
B. Program Description
The daycare center will serve children age 2 ½ to 12 and will be in operation Monday
through Friday from 6:30am to 6:00pm. The preschool component will be offered from
9:30am to 4:15pm daily. Children will be resting on approved mats on the floor.

The before and after school program will provide homework assistance and activities to
encourage a school-age child’s development.
Swimming will be offered once per week in both the a.m. and p.m. sessions. A ratio of
four children to one adult will be maintained and a lifeguard will be on duty at all times.
Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack will be provided by the center.
The program director is Nina Garcia-Stewart. Nina has a Bachelors degree in
elementary education with an early childhood endorsement and is also currently
certified in CPR and 1st Aid.
