To Mataroria Rawhiti in Year 13 who won the City and Guilds Secondary School Culinary Challenge hosted by North Tec. As a regional winner
he will represent Northland in the National Finals on September 12. Mataroria is part of the North Tec's Cookery Academy this year, along with 5
other Year 13 students from Tauraroa.
To the following senior students who have gained 'Excellence' credits in recently completed NCEA assessments, bringing the total assessments at

Spelling Bee please encourage your student(s) to prepare for this. We have 20 Year 9 and 10 students entered in the NZ Spelling Bee competition
with other Year 2 - Year 10 classes participating in an 'in school' event on June 10. Spelling is a focus area in our school's 2014 goals. This is one way
of challenging students to learn new words in a competitive and positive setting.

Famine; Next week is banking week so booklets and

Sports Report
TAS Rugby team had their first game of the Maggie Dixon U15 Rugby competition last Tuesday. The team played an exceptional game against
a slightly larger Pompallier team. We ended up winning 38-12 at home in front of a school crowd. They play again against Bay of Islands
College (up there) on Tuesday June 10.
We had an extremely successful week at Kensington Park for the Northland Area Schools Sports Tournament last week. We took 30 students away
to compete in Volleyball, Futsal, Netball and Rugby. Both the boys and girls teams won the Futsal and Volleyball competition and our Netball
team placed 5th overall. With these exceptional results Tauraroa Area School was named the overall winning school. On top of this we had
several students named in the NAS team for their individual codes and some of these will be travelling to Nelson in the July holidays. These were;

Health Consultation at Tauraroa Area School
Every two years schools are required to consult with the community as to the content and delivery of the school’s proposed Health
programme (including sexuality education). This consultation process is currently taking place this year at Tauraroa Area School. Details
around the Health programme across the school and the consultation process can be found on the school’s website. Please feel free to
provide feedback, concerns or issues to us either by an email to [email protected] or a written letter before the 4 July 2014 to
be considered in the 2014/2015 consultation and amendment process.
Plea for word games has anybody out there got games such as Scrabble, Upwords, Bananagrams or other word games that they
could donate to school to be kept in form rooms for wet lunchtimes? They need to be complete, of course. If you have, could you
bring them in to Mrs Tor Head of English or leave them in the
office.
