Broadway Works Inc.’s Broadway Student Summit, which runs from April 29–May 1, 2011, and
participate in all the related activities as outlined in the Broadway Student Summit Schedule.
I have read the Broadway Student Summit schedule and understand that Broadway Works Inc
will not provide supervision outside of the workshop sessions taking place at Chelsea Studios
(151 West 26th Street, NY, NY 10023) and that any other activities including the performance of
CATCH ME IF YOU CAN and any free time, etc. are at the discretion of the parent/guardian
and will not be supervised by any employees, servants or agents of Broadway Works Inc.
I further give permission for my child to participate in all activities outlined in the Broadway
Student Summit Schedule except as noted:
By signing this form, I declare that I am the legal parent/guardian of the minor child listed above
and am authorized to grant such permission. Any likeness (video or photo) taken of a Broadway
Student Summit Participant or any statement or comment made by a participant of the Broadway
Student Summit may be used in materials published by the Broadway Student Summit without
compensation.

Group 1: Auditioning for the Musical Theatre (Studio 505)
This class will explore the casting and audition process for a Broadway musical and offer practical tips for student
auditions. It will feature two Broadway performers who will share their audition material with the group.
Group 2: Dance Audition: West Side Story (Studio 507)
Curtis Holbrook, one of Broadway’s top dancers, will take you through the creative process of mounting the
acclaimed Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY, illustrating how movement can tell stories through the
legendary choreography of Jerome Robbins. Mr. Holbrook originated the role of Action in the Tony nominated
revival of West Side Story and starred as Brad in the film Hairspray. He has also starred on Broadway as Sonny
Malone in XANADU, FOLLIES (Encores!, Young Buddy), ALL SHOOK UP (Dean Hyde), THE BOY FROM OZ,
TABOO, FOSSE and FOOTLOOSE. Off-Broadway he appeared in SAVED at Playwrights Horizon (Roland) and
RADIANT BABY at the Public Theater. He also appeared in Julie Taymor’s film ACROSS THE UNIVERSE and
on television’s “Law & Order: SVU,” “All My Children” and “As the World Turns.”

Group 1: Acting Through Song (Studio 505)
Join Jared Stein, Associate Musical Director of Broadway’s AMERICAN IDIOT for a course in voice and song
interpretation. Students will learn and perform the show’s title number as well as discuss other forms of musical
theatre. JARED STEIN has served as the Music Director and Conductor for the First National Tour of SPRING
AWAKENING. Prior to that, he conducted the Broadway National Tour of RENT. Other music direction credits
include A NEW BRAIN, THE WHO'S TOMMY, SERENADE, URINETOWN and CHILDREN OF EDEN. He has
recorded with Lauren Molina ("doo-be-doo"), David Reiser ("A Storyteller's Ball") and Declan Bennett ("An
Innocent Evening of Drinking" and "The LoFish Sessions"), with whom he continues to play. Jared holds a BFA
from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
Group 2: Broadway Dance Class (Studio 507)
Step into the chorus line as Broadway pro Lorin Lottaro (dance captain from AMERICAN IDIOT) teaches you a
combination from the show. Lorin's impressive credits include the Encores! production of FANNY at City Center,
Cy Coleman's BEST YET TO COME at the Rubicon (dir. David Zippel), HANSEL AND GRETEL (PBS's "Live
From Lincoln Center"), LYSISTRATA (Avery Fisher) and BROADWAY BY THE YEAR (Town Hall). Lorin has
performed in 13 Broadway shows and garnered two Top 40 dance singles (Atlantic Records).

So you can act, sing and dance. Take command of these skills and harness them to a creative impulse that comes
from deep within you. Practice ways that you can come together with a company of collaborators to create
meaningful and unconventional work. Don't wait to see your name posted on a cast list. You needn't check your
intelligence at the door. Become the driving force your skills have prepared you to be.

For Teachers Only - Metta Directors (Studio 504)
Metta Directors keep the big picture in mind, find the opportunity in the "crisis" of performance and use breath, deep
intuition and the body's wisdom to guide collaboration. Practice "metta" principles with Yoga Teacher Paul Keoni
Chun, a regular presenter for Thespians International. He will lead us through postures, breathing exercises and
meditation that will lead you toward the "Metta Director" in you.

This workshop will combine the song and dance learned from AMERICAN IDIOT along with improvised scene
work and will culminate in an opportunity for the students to perform for each other.

CASTING DIRECTORS
Alison Franck was the Resident Casting Director for Paper Mill Playhouse for 10 years. She has cast over 50
productions for Paper Mill including the Broadway transfer of I'm Not Rappaport, starring Judd Hirsch and Ben
Vereen, directed by Daniel Sullivan. Past Paper Mill productions include The Baker’s Wife, Baby, Ragtime, The
Full Monty, 1776, and Funny Girl. Other regional productions include Pirates! (Conceived and directed by Gordon
Greenberg at Goodspeed & Paper Mill), Hairspray and Les Miserables (North Shore Music Theatre), and 2007's
mini-tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (directed by Scott Schwartz and choreographed by Patti Colombo at
TUTS / Paper Mill / North Shore / TOTS). She recently completed the casting of the upcoming tour of Guys and
Dolls, and has cast tours of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Ain’t
Misbehavin’. Independent film: Broke Even (Best Drama, 2000 NY Independent Film Festival). TV series: Al
Franken's "Lateline," "Soul Man," "Talk to Me." Pilot casting: "Madigan Men" and "Freaks & Geeks" (2000 Emmy
for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series.
Patrick Goodwin joined Telsey + Company in 2006 after graduating summa cum laude from Drew University with
degrees in Theatre Arts and Political Science. He is a guest faculty member of both “The Broadway Workshop” and
“Broadway Artists Alliance”; both organizations are dedicated to the education of children and teenagers in the
entertainment industry with a focus on audition technique. Telsey + Company’s Broadway casting credits include
Memphis, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Million Dollar Quartet, Elf, The Addams Family, 9-to-5,
A Life in the Theatre, Reasons to be Pretty, Blithe Spirit, Next to Normal, Rock of Ages, Rent, Wicked, In the
Heights, South Pacific, Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Company, November, Grey Gardens, The Color Purple, The
