We are extremely grateful to our volunteer knitters and sewers for the time and effort
taken in making baby clothing and blankets.
Important Notes



Please follow the specified patterns approved by our healthcare specialists at
King Edward Memorial Hospital.
Unfortunately, we cannot use garments made from unapproved patterns in
our special care nurseries but are happy to take them in our hospital shops to
raise funds for research.
Wool can be provided upon request.

Knitted Cap Pattern
Using 3 ¼ needles and 4 ply
synthetic yarn (e.g. nylon or
acrylic) cast on 100 stitches.
1 plain, 1 purl for 3cms.
Stocking
stitch
measures 7cm.
until
work
Shape crown.
K1 *K6, K2 tog. Repeat from *to
end of row.
Purl.
K1, *K5, K2 tog. Repeat from * to end of row.
Purl.
K1, *K4, K2 tog. Repeat from * to end of row.
Purl.
K1, *K3, K2 tog. Repeat from * to end of row.
Purl.
K1, *K2, K2 tog. Repeat from * to end of row.

K1, *K1, K2 tog. Repeat from * to end of row.
Purl 2 tog to end of row. Break yarn, thread through remaining stitches.
Pull up and fasten. Join back seam.
Makes a 12cms deep cap.
Tiny Knitted Cap
Using 3 ¼ needles and 4ply synthetic yarn (e.g. acrylic or nylon) cast on 40 stitches.
Knit 6 rows 1 plain 1 purl.
Knit 8 rows in stocking stitch.
Follow above decreasing layout.
50 stitches also works.
Makes cap about 7cms deep.
