This workshop is FOR ALL AGES!!
Enjoy making Kumihimo braids using the Kumihimo Disk which quickly gives confidence in grasping the
methodology. In this class you will make several samples of flat and round braids
with all kinds of yarn and cords and even add beads if you wish!. These techniques will be of benefit in
making unique belts and/or edgings for textiles and accessories
An ideal craft for children and even better why not do it with your children?
An ideal bonding opportunity.
These braids can add texture and pattern to your jewellery designs and are especially impressive
when used to enhance focal beads, and pendants. It is a very attractive addition to your quilting
projects
and you can even make braids for upholstery projects.
A very relaxing hobby that you can even do on a plane!

(We give classes throughout School Holidays so if you are looking for something for
your children to do this is the one. It will keep them busy for hours!)
Course Outline
Cost: R350.00
This is an introductory kumihimo course and will teach you how to make some basic braids round
and flat and how to finish the ends. In class, you will use a round Kumihimo disc to make an 8 strand
round and an 8 strand flat and round braid from wool and cord.
The formal item that will be completed will be a bracelet with cord and beads and clasp.
This is a class about options and there will be a choice of colours of both cord and beads to
custom design your own bracelet!
All materials together with a tutorial are included in the price.
Duration:
10h00 – 16h00 (snacks will be provided during breaks)
During the morning session the various techniques will be taught as well as finishing the braid
for the bracelet. In the afternoon finishing techniques will be shown to complete the bracelet.
