Presser foot with adjustable guide for IDT™: This presser foot has a “ruler” with guide lines and an adjustable slider. It’s perfect for topstitching close to edges or hems. Seam allowance foot: With the seam allowance foot, you always stitch exactly the same distance from the edge of the fabric. This distance can be adjusted. It’s perfect for stitching the standard 15 mm (5/8”) seam allowances on garments. You can find all products at your participating PFAFF® dealer! Assembly Instructions: Collar variation: • Remove the collar and collar stand from your blouse. Measure the upper and lower edges of the collar stand. • Attach the ruffler attachment to your machine (see instructions included with the attachment). • Thread with sewing thread in top and bobbin. • Select straight stitch (stitch length 2.5 mm). Set needle position at “center”. Set the ruffler to 12. The ruffler will now make a tuck after every 12th stitch. The depth of the tucks can be adjusted with the screw. Turn the screw as far to the right as possible. • Lay the cotton eyelet edging which will be used for the ruffle in the feed slit. • Begin stitching. Make sure that the edging always runs evenly along the right side of the guide. • Gather 2 pieces of the cotton eyelet edging, cut one to the measurement of the upper edge of the collar stand and one to the measurement of the lower edge of the collar stand. Remove the ruffler from the machine. • Pin one piece of gathered edging to the outer edge of the collar stand, right sides facing. Have the edging taper in on the curves and lay 1 small tuck at each curve, as needed. • Attach the Seam Guide foot and stitch the ruffle in place. Trim the seam allowances. • Pin the second piece of gathered edging to the neck edge of the blouse, with wrong side of the edging facing the right side of the blouse. If applicable, open the upper seams on the front edges and hide the ends of the edging. Topstitch the front edges again. • Sew the collar stand to the blouse again. Cuffs: • Cut the grosgrain ribbon into 2 equal pieces. • Attach the Narrow Edge foot or Adjustable Guide Foot. • Lay each piece of grosgrain ribbon along the cuff attachment seam, leaving approximately 25 cm (10”) extending at each edge of the cuff. Edgestitch the long edges of the grosgrain ribbon in place. Turn the narrow edges of the grosgrain ribbon to the wrong side, twice 4 mm (1/8”) wide and sew in place. Flower 1: Making flowers: • Cut 2 organza squares 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) • Remove the presser foot from the machine. Attach the 4.5 mm Eyelet plate. • Cut 4 water-soluble stabilizer squares 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) • Mark the center of each flower. Use pointed scissors to cut a small hole through all layers at the marked center. Large flower: • Lay down the large flower and then the small flower over the nose of the eyelet plate. Pin the layers together along the edges of the water soluble stabilizer. • Lay each layer of organza between 2 layers of water soluble stabilizer. Pin the layers together. • Use the water soluble marker to trace the flower (pattern 1) onto the top layer of water soluble stabilizer. • Attach the open-toe appliqué foot. Select zigzag stitch (stitch length 0.35 mm, stitch width 1 mm). • Thread the machine with rayon thread and use bobbin thread in the bobbin. • Set the presser foot lever to the Free-motion position and lower the feed dogs. • Stitch around the flower centers with a decorative satin stitch of your choice. We used this stitch. During stitching rotate slowly and evenly to make a stitched eyelet. • Stitch along the marked flower outlines. • Place the layers in water to wash away the water soluble stabilizer. Small flower • Cut out the flowers, outside the zigzag stitching. Paint the edges with fray check liquid. • Repeat the steps above, but use pattern 2 to create the small flower. Enchanting Blouse with Fabric Flowers | page Flower 2: • Cut 1 organza square 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) • Cut 2 water-soluble stabilizer squares 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) • Lay the layer of organza between the layers of embroidery stabilizer. Hoop all the layers. • Use pointed scissors to cut a small hole through the center of all layers. • Attach the 4.5 mm Eyelet plate. • Lay the small hole in the center of the layers over the nose of the eyelet plate. • Remove the presser foot from the machine. • Set the presser foot lever to the Free-motion position and lower the feed dogs. • Thread the machine with rayon thread and bobbin thread in the bobbin. • Stitch around the flower center with a zigzag (stitch width 3 mm). During stitching rotate slowly and evenly. The stitches should lie directly next to one another. • Remove the layers from the hoop. Hide the beginnings and ends of the threads. • Use the water soluble marker to trace the flower (pattern 1) onto the top layer of water soluble Flower 3: • Cut 2 water-soluble stabilizer squares 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) • Use the water soluble marker to trace the flower (pattern 3) onto one layer of the water soluble stabilizer. stabilizer, with the stitched center eyelet at the center of the pattern. • Remove the eyelet plate. Attach the Open-toe appliqué foot and the Circular embroidery guide. Raise the feed dogs. • Slide the circular guide as close to the presser foot as possible (= smallest radius). • Thread the machine with metallic embroidery thread and bobbin thread in the bobbin. • Lay the layers under the circular guide so that the rubber foot lies exactly in the center of the stitched eyelet. • Set the needle as far to the left as possible. Stitch a circle with straight stitch (stitch length 1.5 mm). • After completing the circle, move the needle 2 mm to the right and stitch a 2nd circle. Continue in this manner until the needle is as far to the right as possible (= 9 circles). • Remove the circular guide. • Thread the machine with rayon thread and bobbin thread in the bobbin. • Select zigzag stitch (stitch length 0.35 mm, stitch width 1 mm) and stitch along flower outline. • Place the layers in water to wash away the water soluble stabilizer. • Cut out the flower, outside the zigzag stitching. Paint the edges with fray check liquid. • Stitch over the center of the flower with small, freemotion circles. Be sure to connect all thread pieces. • Hoop the layers of water soluble stabilizer. Remove the presser foot. • Attach the 4.5 mm Eyelet plate. • Use pointed scissors to cut a small hole through the center of all layers. • Spray the second layer of water soluble stabilizer with spray adhesive. • Lay the small hole in the center of the layers over the nose of the eyelet plate. • Cut pieces of rayon thread and metallic embroidery thread, each approximately 10 cm (4”) long. Lay these over the entire surface. Spray again with the spray adhesive. The surface should be thickly covered with thread pieces. • Thread the machine with rayon thread and bobbin thread in the bobbin. • Lay the water soluble stabilizer with the marked flower on top of the thread surface and pin the layers together. • Thread the machine with metallic embroidery thread and bobbin thread in the bobbin. Attach the Open-toe appliqué foot. • Stitch along the flower outlines, twice, with the triple straight stitch (stitch length 2 mm). • Attach the Open-toe free-motion foot. • Set the presser foot lever to the Free-motion position and lower the feed dogs. • Stitch around the flower center with a zigzag stitch (stitch width 3 mm). During stitching rotate slowly and evenly. The stitches should lie directly next to one another. • Remove the layers from the hoop. Hide the beginnings and ends of the threads. • Place the layers in water to wash away the water soluble stabilizer. • Cut out the flower, outside the zigzag stitching. Paint the edges with fray check liquid. • Set the presser foot lever to the Free-motion position and lower the feed dogs. Enchanting Blouse with Fabric Flowers | page Flower 4: • Cut 1 organza square 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) • Cut 2 water-soluble stabilizer squares 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) • Lay the layer of organza between the layers of water soluble stabilizer. Pin the layers together. • Use the water soluble marker to trace the flower (pattern 4) onto the top layer of water soluble stabilizer. • Attach the Open-toe appliqué foot and select zigzag stitch (stitch length 0.35 mm, stitch width 1 mm). • Stitch along the marked outlines. • Attach the Fringe foot and select zigzag stitch (stitch length 0.4 mm, stitch width 2 mm). • First stitch the inner flower circle along the marked line, then stitch smaller and smaller circles, to the center, until the circle is completely filled. Tip: Use the automatic tie-off function at the beginning and the end of the work so that the loops don’t get pulled flat when the fabric is removed from the machine. • Place the layers in water to wash away the water soluble stabilizer. • Cut out the flower, outside the zigzag stitching.
