Here’s how this KAL works. Go to Ravelry and purchase the
pattern. Pick out the perfect yarn for the shawl (more on that
below). Beginning July 13, Stephen West will release a new
clue (aka portion of the pattern) once a week for 4 weeks. On
the days the clues are released, join us in the shop from 5-7
p.m. and knit the mystery shawl along with us!
The shawl calls for 2 colors of a light fingering weight yarn. You
will need 410 yds of color A and 460 yds of color B. Color A is a
border color so a darker, solid or semi solid color would work
well. Color B is an interior, accent color so a lighter or a
variegated color would work. The shawl calls for 28 stitches
and 52 rows to 4 inches in garter stitch.

Ravellenic Games!
The Ravellenic Games are hosted by the Ravellenic Games
2012 group on Ravelry. Challenge yourself by starting and
finishing one or more projects during the 2012 Summer
Olympics!
The most important (and perhaps most fun) part of the
Ravellenic Games is picking your event. What will be a
challenge for you? See some of the events below.
Afghan Marathon - afghans, blankets
Bag-n-Tote - bags, totes, containers of all types
Balance Beads - beading
Colourwork Crosscountry - colorwork, fair isle, intarsia
Felted Freestyle - all things made then felted
Hand Dye High Dive - hand dyeing of yarn

Update: We now understand that the Opening Ceremonies of
the Olympics has a start time of 9 p.m. (which is 4 p.m.
Eastern Time). We have updated the time of our cast on party
accordingly.
Ravellenic Games Cast On Party will be on
July 27th from 3:30-5:00 p.m.!

July Classes
Beginners Hat: This class is designed to give students a
chance to knit in the round with circular needles and double
point needles. Students will learn to cast on, connect stitches in
the round, decrease to shape the crown, and finish the top of
the hat. Cost: $30.00 plus supplies. Instructor: Andrea.

Beginners Felted Tote: In this class you will make a
felted tote while learning the basics of knitting in the round,
picking up stitches and I-cord bind off. This is the perfect class
for the Beginners Class graduate. Cost: $40.00 plus supplies.

ChainReaction Crochet Afghan: The ChainReaction
class teaches you an array of new crochet techniques and chart
reading needed to make the 20 squares of this unique and
beautiful afghan. This class teaches one square each month,
with one additional class for finishing techniques. Come every
month or drop in as you can. Cost: $15.00 plus supplies.

Great American Aran Afghan: The Great American
Aran Afghan class teaches chart reading, how to cable, make
bobbles, and techniques needed to make the various squares.
This class is offered once a month. You can come every month
or pick one or two months. Upcoming squares are Kathleen T
Carty on pgs 10-11 (May), Barbara Selesnick on pgs 16-17
(June), and Marian Tabler on pgs 6-7 (July). Cost $15.00 per
class plus supplies. Instructor: varies

Noni Flowers: Noni Flowers is a brand new book from Nora
Bellows. Her knitted and felted flowers are truly stunning. In
this class we will feature a different flower from the book each
week. Students will learn the various techniques to knit, felt,
and finish the flowers. You can take one class or all four! Cost:
$20 per class plus supplies. Instructor: Varies.
- Saturdays, July 14 (Dogwood) (full!) , 21 (Clematis), &
28 (Shirley Poppy) from 10:30-12:30 PM
Nomad Bag: Have fun learning how to felt, pick up stitches,
and put a zipper in this slouchy, hobo style bag. This Noni bag
comes in 3 different sizes and features a Jul bag handle. Cost:

- Tuesdays, July 10, 17, and 24 from 6-8 PM (full!)
Preventing and Fixing Mistakes: Ever get to the end
of a row and find you are short a stitch or two, or that you
have too many stitches, or that holes have inexplicably
appeared in your knitting? Maybe your stitches are looking a
little wonky and you just don’t know how to fix them. Then this
is the class for you. Learn what common mistakes we all make
while knitting and, more importantly, how to fix them. Cost:
$30 plus supplies.

August Classes
Basic Socks: Learn to knit socks on dpns (double point
needles) using DK or worsted weight yarn. You will learn the
art of “turning the heel” and grafting the toe. See how easy,
simple, and fun it can be. Cost: $50.00 plus supplies.

Intermediate Knitted Lace: Did you take the beginner
lace class and ready to move forward to create a triangular
shawl? In this class, students will create Ishbel, which is the
perfect start to more complicated lace patterns. Cost: $40.00

Liesl: Liesl is a round yoked cardigan worked from the neck
down in a simple all over feather and fan lace pattern. Students
will learn basic lace chart reading and top down sweater
construction. Take your sweater skills to the next level with this
beautiful, summery cardigan! Cost: $50 plus supplies.

build your knitting skills. Want to learn the Kitchener Stitch?
Ready to learn colorwork and inserting pictures into your
