District may require all persons offering to vote at the budget vote
and election to provide one form of
proof of residency pursuant to Education Law 2018-c. Such form
may include a driver’s license, a
non-drivers identification card, a
utility bill, or a voter registration
card. Upon offer of proof of residency, the School District may also
require all persons offering to vote
to provide their signature, printed
name and address. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to a rule adopted
by the Board of Education in accordance with 2035 and 2008 of the
Educational Law, any referenda or
proposition to amend the budget
otherwise to be submitted for voting at said election must be filed
with the Port Byron Central School
Board of Education at the District
Offices. 30 Maple Avenue, Port Byron, NY 13140 on or before April
18, 2014 at 4:00 PM prevailing
time, must be typed or printed in
English, must be directed to the
Clerk of the School District and

to place before the voters any proposition for the purpose of which is

Shall the Board of Education be authorized to undertake a capital improvement project consisting renovation, reconstruction and upgrades to the District’s Main Building and Bus Garage together with
all related site improvements, original furnishings, fixtures, equipment, machinery and apparatus
required for such purposes, architectural fees, and all other necessary costs incidental to such work,
at a total estimated cost not to exceed $898,000; and obtain the
necessary funds by (i) expending
$50,000 of such cost from the Capital Reserve Fund approved by the
voters on May 21, 2013 and (ii) the
levy of a tax which is hereby voted
for the project in the amount of
$848,000, subject to the applicable
amount of State Building and Excel
Aid available, which shall be levied
and collected in annual installments in such years and in such
amounts as may be determined by
the Board of Education and in anticipation of the collection of such
tax, bonds and notes of the District
are hereby authorized to be issued
at one time, or from time to time, in
the principal amount not to exceed
$848,000, and a tax is hereby voted to pay the principal and interest
on said obligations when due?
NOTICE IS GIVEN that voting upon
the foregoing Proposition will be by
voting machine or paper ballot and
will take place on the May 20, 2014,
in the High School Athletic Lobby
located at 30 Maple Avenue, Port
Byron, New York, between the
hours of 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. prevailing time.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that
qualified voters may obtain applications for absentee ballots from
the office of the Clerk of the District.
Completed applications for absentee ballots must be received by the
District Clerk of the District no later

HEARING, THE ANNUAL
MEETING AND ELECTION OF
THE SOUTHERN CAYUGA
CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
NOTICE is hereby given that a Public Budget Hearing of the qualified
voters of the Southern Cayuga
Central School District (the "District") for the purpose of discussion
of the expenditure and budgeting
of funds for the 2014/15 school
year will be held at the Southern
Cayuga High School Auditorium,
2384 Route 34B, Poplar Ridge,
New York, on Monday, May 12,
2014, at 7:00 pm.
NOTICE is also given that the Annual Meeting and Election of Board of
Education members, and vote
upon the propositions and appropriation of the necessary funds to
meet the estimated expenditures
for the 2014/15 school year, by voting machine, will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Poplar
Ridge High School Planetarium between the hours of 6:00 am and
9:00 pm (EDST).
NOTICE is also given that a copy of
the statement of the amount of
monies and the tax exemption report required for the 2014/15
school year for school purposes
may be obtained seven days before the budget hearing date, at the
District Office, and at the main office of each school building between the hours of 9:00 am and
4:00 pm each weekday, except
Saturdays, Sundays or holidays
during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the annual
meeting.
NOTICE is also given that two members of the Board of Education will
be elected due to the expiration of
the terms of Joseph Lonsky and
Dean Winspear. The candidates
receiving the highest number of
votes will be elected to a three-year
term, beginning July 1, 2014.
NOTICE is also given that the candidates for the office of Board of
Education member shall be nominated by petition. Petition forms
may be obtained from the Clerk of
the District at the District Office.
The petitions must be directed to

PROPOSITION for the PURCHASE
OF SCHOOL BUSES
Shall the following resolution be
adopted, to wit: RESOLVED that
the Board of Education of the
Southern Cayuga Central School
District, Cayuga and Tompkins
Counties, New York, is hereby authorized to purchase school buses,
and that the maximum estimated
cost not exceeding $391,369, or so
much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of
a tax upon the taxable property of
said District and collected in annual
installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law; and,
in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said School District shall be
issued.
PROPOSITION for CAPITAL
PROJECT
Shall the following resolution be
adopted, to wit: RESOLVED, that
the Southern Cayuga Central
School District, Cayuga and Tompkins Counties, New York, is hereby
authorized to construct improvements to and reconstruct various
School District facilities in and for
said School District, including site
and athletic field improvements,
original furnishings, equipment,
machinery, apparatus, appurtenances, and incidental improvements and expenses in connection
therewith, at a maximum estimated
cost of not exceeding $3,000,000,
and that $50,000 Capital Reserve
Fund monies shall be used to pay a
portion thereof, and that the remaining $2,950,000, or so much
thereof as may be necessary, shall
be raised by the levy of a tax upon
the taxable property of said School
District and collected in annual installments as provided by Section
416 of the Education Law; and, in
anticipation of such tax, obligations
of said School District shall be
issued.
If necessary, due to space constraints on the voting machines,
said proposition may be presented
in substantially the following abbreviated form:
CAPITAL PROJECT; Shall the following resolution be adopted, to
wit: RESOLVED, that the Southern Cayuga Central School District
is hereby authorized to construct
improvements to and reconstruct
School District facilities, including
incidental improvements and expenses, at a maximum estimated
cost of not exceeding $3,000,000,
using $50,000 of capital reserve
fund monies, and that $2,950,000,
or so much thereof as may be necessary shall be raised by the levy

LIBRARIES
The trustees of the Aurora Free Library and the Hazard Library have
asked for an increase of the annual
library tax levy from $58,650 to
$70,650 per year, to provide increased support for their
operations. The school district has
a legal obligation to put this proposition before the voters. It is separate from the budget proposition.
Shall the following resolution be
adopted, to wit: RESOLVED that
the Board of Education for the
Southern Cayuga Central School
District is hereby authorized to
raise the tax levy from $58,650 to
$70,650 for the support and operation of the Aurora Free Library and
the Hazard Library. If not approved
by the voters, the amount raised
will remain at the current annual
level of $58,650.
