Products Auto Loss of Use • Basic coverage • Two levels of extra protection • The right choice for you Stay on the road with Auto Loss of Use If you rely on your vehicle daily, a collision or vehicle theft could cause undue stress and extra expenses. With Basic Autopac, you automatically get some protection against loss of use if your vehicle is stolen, but if you rely on your vehicle, consider getting additional Auto Loss of Use coverage. It covers you if your vehicle is stolen or accidentally damaged, including if you’re in a collision. 2 Loss of use coverage with Basic Autopac Standard loss of use protection with your Basic Autopac includes: • Loss of use costs if your vehicle is stolen. (You must wait 72 hours after your car is stolen before the coverage comes into effect.) • Daily coverage limit of $34 with a total limit of $1,020 (taxes included).* You are not covered if your vehicle is accidentally damaged, including a collision. * Coverage limits subject to change. 3 Claiming loss of use expenses with Basic Autopac If you’re in a collision and you’re not at fault, you can claim loss of use expenses against the at-fault driver. If the other motorist is insured by Manitoba Public Insurance, your adjuster can handle the claim for you. If the at-fault driver is insured outside Manitoba, you’ll need to claim directly against that driver for any loss of use expenses. 4 Extra Auto Loss of Use coverage You can purchase additional Auto Loss of Use coverage, which covers loss of use costs if your vehicle is stolen or accidentally damaged, including collision. This coverage applies regardless of fault. • For accidental damage that makes your vehicle undriveable, your coverage starts immediately. Otherwise, coverage starts when you take your vehicle in for repairs. • For stolen vehicles, your coverage begins at 12:01 a.m. the day after you report the claim. • Coverage ends when you get your vehicle back, when a settlement offer is made, or when the maximum coverage limit is reached, whichever comes first. 5 Choose from two levels of Auto Loss of Use to best meet your needs: Level 1 – extra protection • Covers loss of use costs if your vehicle is stolen or damaged accidentally. • Covers the cost to rent an entry-level car (typically called “Economy” or “Subcompact” by rental companies). • Covers taxi or bus fares. • Daily coverage limit of $39.02 with a total limit of $1,170.60 (taxes included).* Level 2 – premium protection 6 • Covers loss of use costs if your vehicle is stolen or damaged accidentally. • Covers the cost to rent a large vehicle (typically called “Full-Size” or “Premium” by rental companies). • Covers taxi or bus fares. • Daily coverage limit of $68 with a total limit of $2,040 (taxes included).* An Autopac agent can provide you with a quote. Note: Some rental companies have age and/or credit card requirements for renting vehicles. To rent a vehicle with an Auto Loss of Use policy, you must still meet these requirements. *Coverage limits subject to change.
