COUNCIL MEMBERS The council once again spent two full years of work, on both side, administrative and technical level, shoring and continuous of the improvement of the calculation program, revision and alignment of the rules with the IWWF rules, controls and changes on the heat-system were also in the program, the manual edition of the EA ranking list. Finally a close collaboration with the development commission, we’ve been running two coaching seminars during the last two years. I’m very proud and happy to have been able to count on the members of the council with which collaboration has been very fruitful and led to progress again in the evolution of our sport. However, after lengthy reflection, in early December two of my colleagues took the decision to step down and to not be any more council members since this congress. Claes Scheffer (SWE) was the secretary of our Council for 9 years, he has honored his function with great professionalism and seriousness, he was also responsible for updating official documents and rules. Also during the first five years he has represented the wakeboard boat council to the Admincom, representation he did brilliantly. Claes today leaves us with the desire to offer the time he spent for us to date on development of a local club loan he resides in Sweden. We wish him full success in his new challenge and thank you very much Claes for all the work you’ve done for the EA wakeboard boat council. Remi Breivik (NOR) was elected in January 2006, his specialization within the council was the calculation, the heat-system and the management of the calculation part at the annual seminar. He was so efficient in the heat-system controlling than he was able to prove that some heat-system utilize in other regions were wrong and needed to be changed! Remi was very methodic and professional and brought a lot for the development of the calculation software for our council. Today he leaves us to devote more time to his family that just got bigger! the entire council joins me to warmly thank Remi for his investment and to wish him all the best for the future! For many years, we had many problems of communications with the president of the IWWF World wakeboard council, on Wednesday 28th August 2013, a big change happens, Nuno Almeida Eca (POR) was elected President by the majority of the World wakeboard council members. The first effects of this election were already felt at the last World congress in Chile, it was since many years that the Executive board had not seen the wakeboard boat representative been that much involved and expressing himself during an EB meeting. The entire wakeboard boat council joins me to congratulate Nuno for his election and wish him full success in his new function. for the future, the current members of the Committee, Maria Bulgakova (UKR), Florian Butty (SUI), Nuno Eca (POR), Colin Hart (GBR) and Simona Valerio (ITA) are all candidates for the 2014 elections to continue the work in progress. 2013 JUDGES & CALCULATORS SEMINARS The 15th Annual International Wakeboard Judging & Calculation Seminar was hosted by the Latvian Waterski and Wakeboard Federation and organised by Oskars Kruze. The E&A Wakeboard Council would like to thank Oskars for his hard work preparing the seminar for the delegates. This was the first International wakeboard judging seminar in Latvia with 28 people attending from 10 countries, including 5 council members. It was encouraging to see officials attend from the new wakeboard coaching seminar. As all of the delegates know, the annual seminar is an important event on the wakeboard calendar for the development within the region. The seminar was aimed at bringing judges up to a medium to high level, on this occasion with 1 delegate taking International Level 1 (E&A highest level) also incorporating the introduction of the new Calculation Program. Results will be produced for judges element and are detailed below, a separate report and results will be posted for the calculation section. JUDGES SESSION The purpose of this report is to give a brief summary of the results, unfortunately we cannot evaluate each individuals examination paper. There was a good number of people that had judged competitions but this was the first official seminar that they had attended and, for a selected few, the first experience of wakeboard judging and calculating. This was most encouraging but all delegates must remember this was an International Seminar that is only run once a year for the region Europe and Africa. Most of the individuals that took the examinations were well prepared on the written examination and this clearly showed within some of the results. However, there were a number of errors/issues that arose, as follows: JUDGES EXAMINATION RESULTS CALCULATOR SESSION Again this year the calculation session was held for both calculators and judges to make sure that also the judges know the basics behind calculation of scores, the heat system and how to perform seeding of riders. There where a total of 14 people standing for the exam where 11 where trying for the national calculators exam and 3 trying for the international level 2 calculators exam. Several of the people taking the exam had problems to explain a calculator’s job prior, during and after the competition and to explain the calculators needs during a competition. Seminars reports were established by Colin Hart for the Judges session and by Florian Butty for the Calculators session. 2013 COACHING SEMINAR From the 18th to 21th April 2013 it was held in St. Petersburg the annual coaching seminar, under the organization of Jean-Michel Cau, we gave a coaching seminar for tournament and wakeboarding. We are now doing a final control on it and It will be published on the wakeboard council website www.wakeboardcouncil.com since the 1st of March. Since 2014, the EA Wakeboard boat ranking list will be made in a totally different way and will follow new criteria, something similar to what they do in the Cable Wakeboard Council. All the informations regarding the ranking list will be available by the next summer on the council website, www.wakeboardcouncil.com 2013 EA WAKEBOARD BOAT RIDERS OF THE YEAR During the last session of the EA wakeboard boat council meeting held in Kiev last November, the majority of the council elected: MEGAN BARKER GREAT BRITAIN 2013 EA WAKEBOARD BOAT FEMALE RIDER OF THE YEAR Megan (Junior Ladies in 2013) became 1st in Open ladies (1/6) at the EA wakeboard boat championships held in Poland and became 7th (7/17) at the IWWF World wakeboard boat championships held in South Korea. The seminar will take place from the 9th to the 11th May 2014 in the following hotel: Hotel Holyday Inn Paris Orly Airport 4 Avenue Charles Lindbergh 94656 Rungis France We still have to arrange some small administrative and technical details but I believe it will be sorted out very soon. 2014 EA WAKEBOARD BOAT RULES During our last session in November we reviewed all the wakeboard boat rules with the ambition of the EA wakeboard boat council to head toward one set of rules in the world. The EA rules will have to be changed to get closer to the worlds rules. All the corrections made during the November session will be available on the council meeting minutes and on the published set of rules. We started to work closer with the world council to make corrections in the world rules and on the regional side, we will only produce regional guideline and small technical regional rules. We expect that in 2015 (Year of the next worlds) the unique worldwide wakeboard boat set of rules will be 100% established and also all the regional guidelines produced. The 2014 EA wakeboard boat rules will be available on www.wakeboardcouncil.com since the 1st of March 2014. We will also distribute it through the EA office. 2014 EA WAKEBOARD BOAT CHAMPIONSHIPS Unfortunatly we still not have received an official bid for the 2014 EA wakeboard boat championships, we still under discussion with federations and boat partner to find the best solution for 2014. Soon as we will get informations or confirmations, we will communicate it to the EA office. If one of the members of the EA confederation is interested to host the wakeboard boat championships this year please contact us. For 2015, we received the 17th January 2014, an official bid from the Dutch federation. 2014 EA WAKEBOARD BOAT PROJECTS The Wakeboard boat council is actually in contact with organizers and partners to organize again the EA wakeboard boat Pro Tour, it will be a new competitions format, easy for the organizer, very important for the riders with cash prize provided by the EA partners, more informations will come out before the spring 2014.
