by enabling or dis-enabling the Built-in Microphone or Screen
4. Switch on your microphone (lectern, computer or lapel mic) and open your presentation if you’re
also recording the screen.
The green-to-red vertical volume bar is located on the left hand side. Speak into the mic and adjust
the volume so that levels are high but not peaking into the red zone. Now press the Start Capture
button.
5. Following a five second countdown, your recording will begin. You must record for at least 15
seconds. The application will then minimise onto the dock.
To stop or pause the recording, click the
icon on the Dock or press “Apple key 8” to stop and
“Apple key 6” to pause and continue recording.
6. When you’ve stopped recording, you can preview your recording by pressing the play button. You
can also edit your recording by using the left & right arrow slider buttons to mark the beginning and
end of a cut, and by using the scissors button to remove the segment. Finally, click Apply Edits to
save your changes or Clear Cuts to cancel your changes. You should also give your recording a Title.
7. To post your recording to EchoSystem/Blackboard, click Publish Recording. You’ll be prompted
for your EchoSystem username and password, and the Unit of Study list will appear. Click Next and
choose Create new Echo or Replace existing Echo. Click Next and enter a Title and then click
Publish.
Make sure your title is clear and descriptive as it will help your students more easily locate the
recording.

“Published”. Depending on the length of your recording, it will take up to an hour to appear in your list
of recordings on the EchoSystem portal.
