How to join and communicate
with the neighborhood
via the WPNNA Yahoo! Group
The WPNNA Yahoo! Group has been created to improve neighborhood
communication by allowing members to email the rest of the neighborhood
without having to know everyone’s email address. This e-mail notification
system has been used to distribute crime reports, send reminders about
neighborhood clean-up days, advertise available nanny positions, search for play
dates for children new to the neighborhood, and inform neighbors of changes to
city services, etc. If you haven’t received an invitation to join the group and you
are interested, the following steps should get you set up.
1. Email [email protected] and ask to be accepted into
the WPNNA Yahoo! Group. Once you are accepted, you will receive an
email containing the usage policy for the WPNNA Yahoo! Group. Then,
you are ready to proceed. Please note that you must be a paying member
of the West Paces Northside Neighborhood Association to be accepted as a
member of the WPNNA Yahoo! Group.
2. Another approach is to email [email protected] or [email protected] and ask to have an invitation sent to you.
3. Watch your email inbox for your invitation. The actual invitation will
come from: [email protected]. The subject line will be Yahoo!
Groups: You’re invited! Join wpnna today. When you receive your
invitation, accept the invitation (there will a button to click on to “join this
group”). (See figure 1.)
4. If you receive an email from Ronnie saying that she has sent you an
invitation, but you don’t receive an invitation, check your spam folders,
etc. for the invitation.
5. Clicking on “join this group” will take you to an Invitation screen for
Yahoo! Groups. (See figure 2.) Please note, you do not have to have a
Yahoo! ID to receive the emails of this group – just click on “join the
mailing list instead” rather than “join the group” … your current email
address will work just fine. If you want to be able to access the web
features, however, you must have a Yahoo! ID (you can still use another
id to receive email). These features include the pet directory and the
databases where neighbors can recommend services to neighbors.
6. You will be taken to a Congratulations screen (see figure 3.) and you will
receive a welcoming email (see figure 4.). You are all set!
7. Anytime you have a message of importance to the neighborhood, just send
an email to the address: [email protected] – it will be forwarded
to all members of the WPNNA Yahoo! Group and stored on the group
website.
8. If you have any comments or questions, please contact Ronnie at
[email protected] or [email protected].
NOTE: Anytime you receive a message with [wpnna] at the beginning of the
subject line, it has been forwarded from the WPNNA Yahoo! Group. When you
reply to one of these messages, your reply only goes to the sender of the message.
If you want the entire WPNNA Yahoo! Group to receive your reply, scroll to the
bottom of the message and choose “Reply to group”.

The purpose of the West Paces/Northside Neighborhood Association (WPNNA) is
to organize its residents, keep its members informed of the concerns and needs of the
neighborhood, and promote the interests and maintain the integrity of the neighborhood.
The members of the WPNNA shall be those persons who are residents of the
neighborhood and who have paid the annual membership dues prescribed by the Board of
Directors. Dues are assessed annually on a "per household" basis.
The area covered by the WPNNA is bounded as follows: the east side of Northside
Parkway from south of West Paces Ferry Road to the north side of Moores Mill Road,
then east to the intersection of West Paces Ferry Road with Moores Mill Road, then west
along the south side of West Paces Ferry Road to the east side of Northside Parkway.
