What is it? The Family Health Forum is an initiative
designed to engage families and their communities to
broaden their knowledge of health and wellness as
they relate to those with intellectual disabilities and
families in general. The goal is to offer an
environment where individuals can gain direct access
to health information, resources, support and learn
more about Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI).
When, Where and How Much Does it Cost?
The forum will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014
beginning at 9:45 a.m.:

The forum is free and is made possible by a grant from
Special Olympics International.
Who Can Attend?
The forum is designed for individuals of all ages with
ID as well as their parents, siblings, guardians, and all
individuals from the community. Limited spaces are
available and will be reserved on a first-come, firstserved basis.

Healthy Communities Project
The Special Olympics Healthy Communities Project is a
three-year initiative. It serves to raise awareness
around the issue of health disparities facing people with
ID, foster development focused on delivering care to
people with ID, and ultimately create communities
where Special Olympics athletes and others with ID have
the same access to health and wellness resources and
can attain the same level of good health as others.
Family Health Forums are one initiative that provide
athletes, coaches, and caregivers direct access to
relevant healthcare information and resources.

Do you want one? How do you get one? How do you know it is a safe relationship? During this session we will
talk about this and so much more.

Everybody Wants to be Loved: How do we support and protect people with disabilities in healthy
relationships? (for parents/guardians)
People with disabilities look for the same things in a relationship that you and I look for. We will explore the
issues that arise when supporting and protecting people with disabilities in relationship choices.

Young Athletes™ Activity Center
A Young Athletes Activity Center will be available for members in the community who would like to learn
more about this inclusive play to grow program for children ages 2 to 7. If you’d like more information about
