HURRICANE FUND DRIVE Students will be outside of church after all of the Masses selling subscriptions for their Magazine Drive. Part of the proceeds of this drive will go to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Please help support this fundraiser. The RCIA Process is for adults (18 and over) inquirers, including non-baptized persons, Baptized Christians of other denominations, and Baptized Catholics who now wish to be confirmed and receive the Eucharist. call the RCIA Office at 340-2087 for more information and/or to sign-up. The RCIA Team will be there to welcome you. “Come and See.” Justice and Peace Ministry Because we CAN make a difference! This weekend, September 10-11, after all of the Masses, we will have our Annual Arts, Crafts, and School Supply Collection for our sister Parish, Guardian Angel in Pacoima. As in the past. Guardian Angel needs all of the basics: crayons, washable markers, pencils, glue, paste, pens, computer & copy paper, newsprint for art, construction paper, etc. We will collect the items in the “corral” at the front corner of the church facing the parking lot. Mitzvah Day consists of a wide variety of service projects for the community, ranging from collections to hands-on activities. Watch the bulletin for additional information. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS NEEDED We are looking for volunteers to join the Eucharist Ministry. If you wish to become a part of this important ministry, please come to our Training Meeting on Thursday, September 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the church. The Religious Education Program needs classroom assistants to help in our elementary program. Our classes meet on Tuesday or Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:30. Doug Glassman’s series on Jerome Murphy-O’Conner’s book Paul His Story. The sessions address the problem of a crucified messiah in the context of Jewish tradition. Come hear Fr. Doug clarify issues often raised by the writings of this apostle to the gentiles. “Safeguard the Children Parish Committee” The purpose of the Virtus Program is to train adults on how to protect all children. The training makes you aware of the signs of child sexual abuse, the methods and means by which offenders commit abuse, and easy steps one can take to prevent child sexual abuse. The Archdiocese has mandated this training for all staff and parishioners who work directly with children. However, it is highly recommended for all who are interested in preventing child abuse. We presently have sessions scheduled for Saturday, October 1 and Saturday, October 29th. Please call Eileen Fewless at (818)3401440 to sign-up for a session. Fall Festival October 14th-16th: The Silent Auction Committee needs your donations for items such as golf trips; weekend getaways at hotels, condos, cabins, etc.; rounds of golf; sports & entertainment memorabilia; spa passes; tickets to sporting events, concerts, theme parks or shows; restaurant, goods and services gift certificates. Service Hour Opportunities: More youth are needed as servers from 10:30 AM -2:30 PM for the Catholic Daughters’ Fashion Show next Saturday, September 17th in the Parish Hall. Please contact the youth ministry office ASAP if you can help out! Junior High Youth Ministry begins meeting again next Tuesday, September 20th. Registration materials are now available in the parish office. Confirmation Program registration packets must be returned tonight (September 11th) at the Program Orientation Night (7:00-8:00 PM in the Parish Hall) no late registrations will be accepted.
