Installation Instructions Important: Do not install your unit before you’re sure that the WiFi setup succeed. 3.1.Finding the right location It is highly important to find the right location for your GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub. The unit’s location must meet all the following considerations. 1. The unit is not waterproof. Please locate in a dry place, and make sure that the unit and its power adapter never come in contact with water or any other fluid. 2. The unit’s operating temperature range is 0° to 40°C (32° to 104°F). Please avoid exposing the unit to direct sunlight or other heat sources. 3. Indoor, or waterproof cabinet installation is required. 4. If you’re going to use the unit in Wi-Fi Mode, you need to make sure that there is a good Wi-Fi reception in the unit’s location. 5. Make sure that all the connections are available in the unit’s location: electrical inlet, irrigation valve wires, irrigation valves power source, and Ethernet cable with internet connection (for Wired-Mode only). !8 3.2.Mounting You can use the two mounting holes on the back of the unit. The distance between the holes is 10.0 cm (3.937 in). 3.3.Connecting the unit to irrigation valves There are several types of irrigation valves in the market. The GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub supports only 2wires AC valves. It controls the switching of the valves, not powering them. Additional power source is required to power the valves. For example, if 24VAC valves are used, an additional 24VAC power source should be connected to the system. The unit’s switching scheme is shown in Figure 2. This scheme also appears on the label on the unit’s back. ! ! 0 1 2 3 4 5 Figure 2 !9 6 7 8 9 ! • Wire 0 is common to Zone1 to Zone 7. • Wires 1 to 6 are used for Zone1 to Zone 6 respectively. • Wire 7 is used for Zone 7, which is the master channel. • Wires 8 and 9 (the thicker wires) are used for garden lighting control. Never connect wires 8 and 9 to your irrigation system. ! In later models, the wires are not numbered, and a colour code is used instead. ! Wire 0: White Wire 1: Brown Wire 2: Red (thin) Wire 3: Yellow Wire 4: Green Wire 5: Blue Wire 6: Pink Wire 7: Grey Wires 8 and 9: Thick red wires !10 ! Figure 3 shows an example of a typical connectivity with three irrigation valves (three zones). The valves in this example are rated for 24VAC. Adapter One wire (any wire) of the 24VAC Adapter should be connected to wire 0 of the device. The other wire of the 24VAC Adapter should be connected to a common connection of all valves. The other wire of each valve should be connected to its designated zone number. 3.4.Connecting the unit to lighting Zone 8 in the GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub is defined as the lighting control channel. Wires 8 and 9 can be used to switch your garden lights. Garden lighting will be wired only by an authorised electrician. ! The GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub lighting channel supports voltage of up to 24VAC and current of up to 2A. Figure 4 shows an example of an electrical scheme. ! ! ! ! ! ! !12 GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub 5VDC Power 5VDC ! 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Source 9 24VAC Power Source ! ! Figure 4 ! If your garden lights use more than 24VAC, or more than 2A, you need to add a relay to the system that supports the required voltage and current. 3.5.Completing the connectivity After you completed the stages above, you need to connect your unit to power via its power adapter. If WiredMode is selected, you need to connect the unit to an Ethernet cable as well. Wait few minutes for your GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub to boot up. !13 Your system is now ready for testing. 3.6.Testing your system After you finished the installation, you need to check that everything works properly. Follow the stages below to test your system: 1. Go to the web app at http://greeniq.net 2. Enter your username and password, and press the “Sign In” button. 3. From the main menu, select “Status”. 4. Make sure that all four indicators are green. If one indicator is not OK, disconnect the unit from power, wait for a few seconds, connect to power again, and wait few more minutes for the boot process to complete. If the issue persists go to GreenIQ troubleshooting web page for help: http://greeniqsystems.com/troubleshooting.html 5. After validating that the status is OK, go back to the main menu. 6. In the main menu select “Program”. 7. Select “Zone 1”, and turn on the “Zone Enable” and “Manual” switches. This should operate the sprinklers in Zone 1. Please note that this operation is not !14 instantaneous. It can take about a minute for the command to propagate from your app to the GreenIQ Cloud and from there to your GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub. 8. If the sprinklers in the selected zone are working and the zone’s indicator in the web app is on, this zone passed the test. Turn off the zone’s “Zone Enable” and “Manual” switches, and test the next zone until all zones are tested. 9. The lighting channel (Zone 8) is tested the same way. 10. If one zone or more are not responding correctly, check your system wiring and look for additional help in the GreenIQ troubleshooting web page. 11. If all zones passed the test, your system is ready. To take full advantage of the features that the GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub offers, read the User Guide. ! ! !15 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! © 2014 All Rights Reserved to GreenIQ LTD
