1. General Information
In all competitions the Etiquette and Rules of Golf, as laid down by the R & A, and any Local Rules currently in force, shall
apply. If the committee has appointed a referee, his decision in any disputes shall be final.
In the absence of a referee, any dispute or doubtful point on the Rules shall be referred to the Committee, whose decision shall be
final.
Only members with a CONGU handicap and who meet the competition entry requirements as indicated in the Competition
Description, and have membership playing rights for the day and time of the competition, are allowed to enter the competition.
If by mistake a member plays off the wrong handicap then the following will apply:
• Lower handicap than current - Score stands
• Higher handicap than current - Disqualification
It is the member’s own responsibility to check his handicap before commencing play in any competition.
Scorecard:
In all competitions, with the exception of Match Play knock-out matches, a ‘properly completed’ scorecard must be submitted.
The scorecard must be marked by a fellow competitor or playing partner who must be a member of Langdon Hills Golf Club with
a current handicap.
In exceptional circumstances, at the discretion of a committee member, a non-participating marker may be allowed.
The scorecard will be deemed to have been ‘properly completed’ if the following details are legible:
• The Competition name/details
• Date played
• Course played (Langdon, Bulphan or Horndon)
• Tees played from (Blue, White or Yellow)
• The Player(s) name(s)
• Handicap
• Gross Score on each hole
• Signed by the marker
• Signed by the player/players
In Stableford competitions it is not necessary to show points achieved.
It is the player’s responsibility to check all the information is correct before he signs the card.
Players who play in competitions are expected to complete a competition card and post it in the card box provided in the
changing room at the end of play. [ as per the rules of golf ]
Players who fail to post their competition card :
A player who is known to have played will be shown on the result sheet as NR [nil return].
A player who is known to have played and has scored better than their handicap will be scored on rule 19.
If there is a disagreement between player and marker, do not sign the card and refer the card to the Competitions Secretary.
Failure to complete the Scorecard correctly will/could result in disqualification.
All Men’s competitions will be played off the White tees except when decreed by the committee.
Restrictions on entry to a competition are defined in the competition description.
The competition description will advise methods of entry for each particular competition.
Distance Measuring Devices: For all competitive play at LHGC a player may obtain distance information by using a device that
measures distance only. If during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or
measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.) the player is in breach of Rule 143, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is used.
Mobile Telephones: The use of electronic devices on the course can cause disturbance or distraction to other players and is in
breach of course etiquette. The Committee has ruled that during competitive play at Langdon Hills all mobile telephones MUST
be switched to silent mode. The making and receiving of calls on mobile telephones is restricted to emergency / urgent only. Any
player who feels a fellow competitor’s use of a mobile telephone, other than in an emergency, is causing him disturbance should
report such use to the Committee. Subsequent breaches of this instruction will be treated as a serious breach of etiquette and the
Committee WILL disqualify the player under Rule 33-7.
Juniors may enter all Men’s and Mixed competitions, excluding Mid-week knockouts and the Rabbits Trophy, provided they have
a playing handicap of 16 or less. In doubles / mixed competitions they must be accompanied by an adult member (ONE ADULT
PLAYING PARTNER PER JUNIOR), the junior must have played in five junior competitions in the 12 months prior to playing
in any of the above events.

Competition Entry:
All competitions will be ‘Advertised’ on the Competitions Notice Board, approximately one month before the competition is due
to be played. It will advise the method of entry that is allowed for the competition, which will be one of the following:
PRE ENTRY: Entry is by reserved tee time. Approximately one month before the competition a
Pre-Entry Sheet will be available in the entry folder. Those wishing to enter the competition should add their name to the
entry sheet, and pay the entry fee. If preference for an early or late tee time is indicated, then this can be accommodated.
It will not be possible to pre-book an exact tee time.
If the entry fee is not paid the member will not be entered in to the competition.
Approximately 12 days prior to the competition the Pre-Entry will be closed. The closing date for Pre-Entry will be
advised on the Competitions Notice Board.
A random draw will then be made and posted at least seven days prior to the competition start date, to advise members of
their starting time.
Enter on the Day: Entry to this type of competition is by the member arranging his own tee time.
Prior to commencing play he must complete the entry sheet, and pay the entry fee.
TWO TIER COMPETITIONS: These competitions will be by both ‘Pre-Entry’ and ‘Enter on the Day’. No member
may enter a competition twice.

Competitions without Trophies
In Club competitions which do not have a trophy and/or replicas, prizes or vouchers may be purchased by the organisers of the
competition to the value of approximately half the entry fees received. The organisers will decide whether the competition will
have one or more prize winners depending upon the number of entries. The committee may decide that even when a trophy does
not exist replicas may be given in place of prizes.
Entry qualification for ‘MAJOR’ competitions
For competitions designated as a ‘MAJOR’, entry is conditional on the competitor having played in a minimum of three
qualifying singles competitions during the previous 12 months (five qualifying singles competitions for the Club
Championships), however, players who do not meet the entry criteria may enter a ‘Major’ and use such entry as a ‘qualifying’
tournament for future ‘Major’ competitions except for the Dix Summer Singles Knockout and the Sheridan Pairs Knockout.
No Shows for competitions
Any competitor who fails to turn up on competition days after a draw has been made without informing the pro-shop or a member

The Scorecard must indicate which player’s tee shot was selected on each hole.
Format: Stroke Play - Texas Scramble. Each player must have at least four tee shots selected.
