Agenda
Intended Audience
Nurses who participate in the care of pediatric patients.
Purpose
To enable the learner to use evidence-based practice in the care of
the pediatric patient.
Objectives
1.
Discuss the prevalence, clinical presentation and natural history
of food allergies in children.
2. Explain the process of food desensitization.
3. Describe the differential diagnosis for each quadrant of the
abdomen.
4. Determine the most likely cause of abdominal pain.
5. Review the science behind the recent changes made to the sepsis
guidelines in pediatric populations.
6. Discuss the impact of sepsis in the acute care setting.
7. Recognize common symptoms and assessment techniques
related to children and teens who struggle with anxiety and/or
depression.
8. Review the causes of anxiety and/or depression in pediatric and
adolescent population.
9. Discuss the organ donation process.
10. Describe two triggers to initiate an organ or tissue referral.
11. List healthcare advantages of medical missions.
12. Identify the challenges of cultural similarities and differences
when providing patient care.
13. Identify risk factors for healthcare providers working with
high-risk population.
