Sharing Hope and Changing Lives Across Iowa
Dear Friends,
Just 2 weeks ago, we closed the record books on another church year. As all the statistical reports began to come in
for the accounting of how we have done, I was praying that God would help me to keep focused on the reality of what
we are doing.
When we reported Sunday School attendance, it was more than that. It was the story of how many people we
discipled this year. When we reported attendance for Morning Worship, it was more than that. It was the story of
how many people gathered to hear the Word and were equipped to tell the story to others. It was the story of how
many people came each week to hear a healing word from the Healer. When we reported how much money we
raised and gave away, it was more than that. It was the story of our investments into people’s lives so they can be
changed by the Good News.
All of these statistics are important, but there are a couple that truly reflect the impact of everything else we do. How
many made decisions to follow Christ and were baptized? This is the number that ultimately defines our effectiveness
in the harvest field. We must never forget that we are called to make disciples. We have no other purpose!
I’m looking forward to our time together at District Assembly in 3 weeks, where we will be celebrating the harvest.
Our theme for this assembly will be “Reach the Harvest”, I hope to see you there!
