We hope your boys are settling in well and the whole family soon feels that it is a part of the Grammar Community. Our first event for this term is the ever popular Father and Son breakfast on Thursday 23 October which Year 5 are kindly coordinating. The invitation to this went out this week with all the information and a link to Trybooking (www.trybooking.com/FXTT) You will also find this link in the School Newsletter. Please book as soon as possible - you have a week left to do so - as it really helps with the catering as all the food has to be ordered in ahead of time If you are able to help either on the day (6.30am-9am) or with the set up on the Wednesday afternoon (1.30- pick up) please contact me. All boys coming need to be accompanied by an adult. Please feel free to ask Uncles, Grandfathers, Godparents, another Dad at school if your son’s Dad is unable to attend for any reason. I trust you all have Saturday 1 November in your diary and plan to come to our FAMILY FUN DAY. There has been a lot of effort and organisation go into making this a fantastic community event and I really encourage all of you to support us both by coming on the day and volunteering a little of your time to help. Special Food Day is Monday 10 November for which more details will come out nearer the time. Year 6 parents are busy putting the final touches to the Year 6 Dinner at the end of November. There will be the Orientation Mornings for new families coming into the School next year and finally the General Meeting/AGM/Volunteer Thank You Morning Tea which will be held on Thursday 13 November. There are still a number of emails that will be sent in the next couple of weeks. Thanks to those parents who have paid the Lifetime Membership Fee promptly on receipt of the email. To those who have received an email, but haven't yet paid, we would ask that you pay as soon as possible so that we can ideally finalise memberships prior to the end of this term. The Committee has compiled a comprehensive list of all families who are current financial members of the PA, so if you are unsure of your status please email the Committee on [email protected] would strongly encourage all families to join the PA, as all funds collected help support PA activities including the Uniform Shop, Tuckshop and regular school community social functions. FATHER AND SON BREAKFAST www.trybooking.com/FXTT Thursday October 23 2014 7.30am till 8.30am Sydney Grammar St Ives – School Hall Cost: $25 one adult and one child, $5 for each additional child BREAKFAST AT TUCKSHOP Tuckshop now offers breakfast at School every morning for boys who attend a before school activity but may not have had a chance to eat a proper breakfast before leaving home. It will be served from the Tuckshop at 8.20am and can be ordered in two ways. Our preferred way is by writing your order on a paper bag, placing the money in the bag and then handing it in to Carol on the way to the activity when your son arrives at School. Carol will then have the order ready at 8.20am for your son to pick up from the Tuckshop. Alternatively they can just go to the Tuckshop at the end of their activity (8.20am) and ask for breakfast but they may have to wait. We offer: 1 slice of raisin toast plus your choice of a juice popper, flavoured milk ‘popper’ (chocolate, strawberry or plain) or bottle of water $2.00 OR A toasted English muffin with vegemite plus your choice of a juice popper, flavoured milk ‘popper’ (chocolate, strawberry or plain) or bottle of water $2.00 Extra slice of raisin toast or muffin $0.80 Once we see how this goes we will consider adding in other breakfast items such as cereal. HIGH TEA FOR YEAR 5 MUMS AT GUNNERS’ BARRACKS TEA ROOM – 21 OCTOBER Take a break and treat yourself to a scrumptious high tea in the delightful sandstone surroundings of the Gunners’ Barracks Tea Room. Enjoy the company of fellow Year 5 mums while admiring the magnificent vista over Middle Harbour. We work hard all year supporting our boys at school - it is time to celebrate together with a well deserved treat. Please keep a look out in the newsletter for when the stock arrives. Thanks to those parents who have already helped out in Tuckshop this term. It is very much appreciated. If you are new to Grammar and wish to contribute please pop into the Tuckshop next time you are at School. Help is always appreciated and no amount of time is too short. School Swimmers The new School swimmers are now in stock. There is a changeover period of 18 months to the new swimmers and jammers. Jammers are the longer leg swimmers Sizes 8 to 16 Cost $45.00 Swimmers are for all the boys preschool to year 6 Sizes 4 to 18. Cost $35.00 There are still a few of the old style swimmers for sale at $10.00 a pair size 6, 12, 16 & 20. There is now a new sports bag available from the Uniform shop. This is NOT a compulsory change. The new bag is larger with a ‘D’ zip to make is easier for the boys to carry their sports gear and to get the gear in and out of the bag. The cost of the bag is $55.00. Cannot make the normal shop hours? Working or dropping other children off to their schools and cannot make the shop hours? You are welcome to phone your order to 8302 5224 and leave voice mail or email your order to [email protected]. A full price list and order form can be found on the School’s website. Once in the website, select ‘Quick links’ to find the order form. Orders are delivered to your son via his Form Master. Please note that if you are unable to attend your rostered day, it is your responsibility to organise another volunteer to cover your position. Please use the Contact List and your class e-mail list to reach a larger number of parents and carers, and then email Merryn Castle at the above email address to notify her of the change. In order to avoid being short-staffed, it is essential that you inform the Tuckshop of any last minute changes (due to illness or emergencies) as early as possible by calling Carol Shields on 8302 5225. We hope you have a great year working on Tuck and thank you for all your help and hard work. There are a number of gluten free options available at the Tuckshop. Please contact Carol for further information. Also, as you are all aware, due to the increase in supplier costs, there has been a slight increase in tuck menu prices. If you are able to help out on either of these days, please let Merryn Castle know by emailing her at [email protected].
