South Umpqua High School Daily Bulletin 10.20.14 General: Homecoming Week 2014 is here! Wednesday is Powderpuff from 5:00-6:30, Powdertuff 6:30-8:00 and Bonfire from 8:00-10:00, Friday is the Homecoming Assembly, Night Raid BBQ/Face Painting from 5-6:30, Lancers vs. Trojans + Halftime Court/Show from 7-9:30, the Black, Gold, and White Homecoming Dance is from 9:30-midnight, and it’s SPIRIT WEEK all week long. Remember, no guests allowed for bonfire, and all dance guest passes must be approved through Mr. Ehrhardt at least three school days prior to the dance. If you plan on participating in Powdertuff or Powderpuff permission slips are due by Friday to Mrs. Westbrooks. Get in the spirit, get creative, and show your LANCER PRIDE all week long! Battle of the Books: If you are interested in being in the Battle of the Books this year please sign up in the library. We must have at least 8 people sign up in order to play. College Visits/Scholarships: Students: Pick up your Fall 2014 College, Career, Financial Aid, and Scholarship Bulletin in the C & CC. There are opportunities for all grade levels, so check them out! Attention students: The most spirited homecoming dress up outfits=PRIZES! Get prepared for Monday-A.M. vs. P.M. (Dream job or rock some PJ’S!), Tuesday-Support your Sport (Colors/gear of favorite sports teams), Wednesday-Would Ya Wednesday (Would you still be my friend if I wore this?), Thursday-Hillbillies vs. Hippies, and Friday is your Black, Gold, and White, FIGHT-FIGHT-FIGHT Friday! GO LANCERS! Let’s watch the spirit meters rise in the gym and get some class competition going on for the best dressed! Attention artists “BE the Whale” $1,000 art scholarship is now available. They are looking for 2D original artwork of a Humpback Whale. See bethewhale on FB, pick up an app in the C & CC, or check out bethewhale.com (sponsored by BE the Whale LLC of Florence, OR) before the 10/24/2014 deadline. Reminder: Please check the C & CC for all available scholarships, community service opportunities, college visits, updated postsecondary materials, etc. Don’t let key opportunities pass you by! See Mr. Shelby or Karren in the office or contact Amy Hill in Room 14. Students interested in bowling this season can sign up at the office. Open Gym practice starts on Oct. 21st 4P.M. Practice Fee of $35 must be paid before your first practice and paperwork must be completed and turned in to the athletic office. If you need a physical this season that two must be taken care of before you can start practice. Get things taken care of now so you can take advantage of more practice time!! Drop off new socks in the Leadership box in Mrs. Westbrooks’s room during the month of October, and your socks will be donated to UCAN and the Dream Center (compliments of a Sutherlin High School student who is heading up this project for our communities)!
