Philippe Bach has been the Generalmusikdirektor of Das
Meininger Theater since 2010, where opera productions
have included Rigoletto, Tristan and Isolde, Rosenkavalier and Magic Flute. He is also the Principal Conductor of the Berner Kammerorchester since 2012. He
was the Erster Kapellmeister and Stellvertretender
Generalmusikdirektor at Theater Lübeck from 2007 until
2011. Philippe Bach was the winner of the International
Jesús López-Cobos Opera Conducting Competition in
2006, and then spent 2 years at the Teatro Real in
Madrid as assistant to López-Cobos. He has also

Zauberflöte and La Traviata at the Hamburgische Staatsoper.
He is Swiss and trained in the German opera system: this
background and his extensive experience have allowed
him to build a wide repertoire encompassing Wagner,
Verdi, Mozart, Puccini, Britten, Rossini and Janacek. He
also has an interest in unusual and new repertoire, and
has conducted operas by Henze, Maxwell Davies,
Thomas Adès, along with much contemporary and rare
symphonic repertoire as well. On the symphonic side,
Philippe Bach is a guest conductor with the Helsinki
Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic, RTE Symphony
Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonica de Madrid, Tonhalle, Basel
Sinfonietta, Basel Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra de la
Svizzera Italia and Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and
at the Menuhin Festival Gstaad. He will make his début
with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in February 2015.
In 2005, Philippe Bach was the recipient of a fellowship
from the prestigious American Academy of Conducting
at the Aspen Music Festival. From 2004 – 2006 he was
Junior Fellow in Conducting at the Royal Northern
College of Music in Manchester.

Conditions for participation
Aktive:
Teilnehmen können max. 12 versierte
Dirigentinnen und Dirigenten aus dem Inund Ausland. Die künstlerische Leitung
entscheidet aufgrund der Bewerbungen
über die Zulassung am Meisterkurs.
Active participants:
A maximum of 12 experienced conductors
of any nationality. The artistic director
decides on admission to the masterclass
on the grounds of the applications.
Die Unterrichtssprachen sind Englisch und
Deutsch.
The masterclass is given in English and
German.
Anmeldeschluss ist der 15.Oktober 2014
Deadline for applications is October15st,
2014.
Mit der Anmeldung hat eine Anzahlung der
Kurskosten von CHF 200.00 zu erfolgen.
Wird ein Kandidat aufgrund der Qualifikation nicht zugelassen, wird die Anzahlung zurückerstattet. Bis am 1. November
2014 werden die aktiven Teilnehmer vom
Entscheid der Leitung über eine Zulassung
zum Meisterkurs informiert. Zu diesem
Zeitpunkt sind die restlichen Kurskosten zu
entrichten.
Together with the application, a down
payment of CHF 200 is due. If a candidate
is not admitted to the masterclass, the
down payment is reimbursed. Active
participants are informed of the decision
about their admission to the masterclass by
November 1th 2014. The rest of the cost is
then due.
In den Kurskosten ist der freie Eintritt zu
sämtlichen Konzerten am Festival inbegriffen.
Costs include free admission to all the
concerts of the Festival.
Passiv:
Die Teilnahme ist unbeschränkt möglich.
Anmeldeschluss ist der 10. Januar 2015.
Mit der Anmeldung sind die Kurskosten zu
bezahlen.
Passive / auditors:
An unlimited number of interested
conductors may attend. Deadline for
applications is January 10th 2015. Together
with the applications the full fee is payable.
