RECAP: SEPTEMBER’S GUEST SPEAKER VALERIE ALLEN-GOLDEN PAINTS WORKING ARTIST Visit Valerie on her Facebook page - Valerie Allen. Val is a Certified Working Artist for Golden Paints - meaning she has extensive training and experience with acrylic painting products and techniques. In her own art, she combines textures and media, including such things as encaustic, wax and acrylic. Allen introduced some of the types of products produced by Golden including High Flow paints, Gels, Pastes, Mediums, Heavy Body paint, Acrylic glazing liquid, Open acrylic and more. She gave quick but intriguing demos of how many of the products work and the effects one could create with them. Valerie also explained the difference between modern and mineral colors: mineral colors - very opaque, producing more earthy tones, and modern - very translucent, producing brilliant clear colors. The packet and goody bags she brought for everyone included lots of info, a great color mixing chart and samples of several Golden paint products. Quote of the Month Art is not what you see, but what you make others see. ~ Edgar Degas
