INFLATION STRIKES AGAIN
At the recent Triennial Session of the General Grand Chapter, the delegates voted to raise the per
capita from $1 per member to $2 per member, effective in 2016, and another dollar in 2018. Chapters
should start collecting the extra $2 with their next dues cycle so that they don’t get caught short.
Also, at the last Annual Conclave of the Grand Commandery of Connecticut, per capita was raised
from $21 to $25, effective in 2015. Commanderies take note.
NEW VENUE FOR GRAND CHAPTER/GRAND COUNCIL ANNUAL
After visiting and reviewing proposals from three different properties, including the Sheraton
Hartford South where we had met previously, the dais officers of the Grand Chapter and Grand Council
were unanimous in choosing to hold the Annual Sessions for the next three years at the Four Points by
Sheraton, 275 Research Parkway, Meriden. The hotel is large enough to serve our needs quite well, but
small enough that we should not have to compete with another group on the same weekend.
FROM MEGHP CHARLES D. O’NEILL
At this time of Thanksgiving, we pause to count our blessings; the freedom of this great country in
which we live; it’s opportunity for achievement; and the friendship and confidence you have shown in us.
For all of these things, we are deeply thankful. Our best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving.
FROM MPGM CHARLES A. McCOLLUM
Companions, November is the month we set aside to give thanks to the Grand Architect for the
manifold blessings he has bestowed upon us, our families, our Fraternity and our Country. I hope each
of you will reflect on these blessings and offer a heartfelt prayer of thanks, not just on Thanksgiving but
every day.
During each Grand Council officer visit, to include my own, a formal discussion of the two-year term
for Grand Council officers will be had and your input earnestly solicited. This discussion can be done
during the Assembly or after during fellowship but it is important that we as a Grand Council know your
feelings on this proposal.
FROM REGC WILLIAM A. G. MACKEY
You are invited to a "Masonic Family Holiday Dance Party" on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 7:00
p.m. at New Haven Masonic Temple. This event — which is a fundraiser for Connecticut DeMolay and
Connecticut Rainbow — is being sponsored by the Grand Commandery in partnership with all Masonic
Bodies in Connecticut. The party will feature music, dancing, fun, and food. Terry Brettman and Jim Strein
will be playing a mix of traditional, country, and popular dance music. They will also be teaching and calling
the dances. All dances will be easy to do. If you can walk to a beat, you really can enjoy some fun and
dance! Light refreshments — chips, pretzels, popcorn, cookies, cake, coffee, tea, juice, and sodas — will
be served. You are invited, if you wish, to bring an item on a potluck basis. The dance is free to active
members of Connecticut DeMolay and Connecticut Rainbow. A reservation form is published in the
November 2014 edition of Connecticut Freemasons newspaper. Please mark your calendar for this special
holiday season event!
