CANDIDATE PROFILE
The Grand Haven Area Public Schools Board of Education is seeking
a strong visionary and collaborative leader with exceptional decision
making and relationship skills. The leader Grand Haven is seeking will:
• Model the highest level of personal and professional ethics, integrity, honesty
and trust.
• Be an innovative thinker
who embraces technological advances, combined with best instructional practices.
• Demonstrate leadership with
confident decision-making skills.
• Engage in a collaborative approach to decision
making, strategic planning and creative problem solving.
• Demonstrate excellent
communication and relationship-building skills.
• Be open-minded and
approachable with staff,
students, parents and
community members.
• Have experience with the implementation of one-to-one technology initiatives.
• Dedicate all efforts towards
educational excellence,
continuous improvement, and the success of all
students.
• Have experience in a
multi-cultural environment.
• Possess a strong
commitment to and visible engagement in the greater Grand Haven community.
• Demonstrate knowledge
of public school finance
and responsible fiscal
management.

curriculum, instruction and assessment best practices.

hands-on, student-centered
approach who can engage students, staff, parents and community members.
The board seeks a candidate with the following minimum credentials:
• Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field
• Minimum of ten years of educational experience that includes
classroom instruction and building administrative experience,
with central office administrative experience preferred

Friday, March 20 - Application Deadline
Week of March 23 - Board Members Review Applications
Week of March 30 - Applicant Screening / Identify candidates to interview
Weeks of April 13 & 20 - Initial Interviews
Week of April 27 - Final Interveiws / Candidate Selection
Week of May 4 - Approve Contract
July 1, 2015 - Start Date
The board will offer a comprehensive, multi-year contract to the
selected candidate. Total salary compensation will depend on the
background and experience of the successful candidate.

For more than 140 years, the core of Grand Haven Area Public
Schools has been academic excellence realized through a rigorous
curriculum combined with individual attention from our outstanding
staff. Our district has gained national recognition for excellence in
academics, athletics and the arts. Grand Haven Area Public Schools
is a 100-square-mile district that includes seven elementary buildings (grades Y5-4), one intermediate school (grades 5-6), one middle
school (grades 7-8), and two high schools (9-12), with a total enrollment of just over 6,200 students.

Voters passed two bond proposals in May 2014, that will generate $45.7 million dollars over the next 10 years for the following:

• Arts improvements including expanded space
• Athletic improvements including expanded space
