MOOSE CALL
October 2014
96th Year
Loyal Order of Moose
Membership Minute
NEW MEMBERSHIP PROMOTIONS ARE
UNDERWAY. The “Reaching for 1000” membership
promotion started May 1st, 2014 and runs Through
May 31st, 2015. We will be giving away $1,000
to a member who renews their dues during this
Moose year. Look for a post card in the mail!
The Woodstock Moose Lodge No. 1329 started
our member sprogram, “Sign up 3 Your Dues Are
Free!” through ending April 30th, 2015. If you sign
up 3 members to the Woodstock Moose during
that time period, the Membership Committee will
pay your dues for the next year. The program
is for both LOOM and WOTM members. As of
the Illinois State Convention in August, we were
showing the largest increase in membership in
the State of Illinois so far this year. Let’s keep our
Lodge GROWING!
The Woodstock Moose Lodge is being featured
in the October/November for its New Member
Orientation program. Check out the front cover
and see two of our members! If you haven’t had
the opportunity to learn about all our Fraternity
and our Lodge have to offer, make sure to come
to a Board Breakfast on the Second Sunday of the
Month. We will be running the orientation during
breakfast. Whether you’re a new member or a
long-time member, you’ll enjoy learning about all
the Moose has to offer!
Upcoming Events:
Oktoberfest is back! Mark your Calendars
for Saturday, October 18th. The Membership
Committee will be hosting Oktoberfest again this
year at the Woodstock Moose. We will be serving
in the Social Quarters from 5 to 7:30 your choice of
Pork Wienerschnitzel, or German style sausages
for your main course. All meals will come with
homemade spaetzle, braised red cabbage, and
fresh baked pretzel rolls, $12.00 per person. There
will be a membership special that day for $45 for
men and $35 for women to join. Don’t miss this
great event!
7th Annual Woodstock Community Hero
Awards
The general public and our lodge membership
are invited to submit nominations for the 7th
Annual Woodstock Community Hero Awards,
September 7th – October 28th. These awards
will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2014.
We draw many people from our community as
well as local dignitaries from the city, county,
and Moose International. It’s your opportunity to
tell the community about someone who you feel
is a Community Hero. There will be nominations
accepted for the following award categories:
Teacher of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Outstanding
Youth of the Year, and Adult Leadership Person of
the Year, as well as nominations submitted from
the Fire and Police Departments for Firefighter of
the Year and Policeman of the Year. Nomination
forms maybe picked up and dropped off at
the Woodstock Moose Lodge as well as the
Woodstock Public Library. The event is held in
conjunction with Mooseheart Founders Day, and
we will be holding an open house event. So mark
your calendar for November 15th, and watch for
future articles on this event, but don’t forget to
start planning to nominate someone you know. If
you care to help with this event, please contact
Sue Lock or myself.

The First Nudist Moose Lodge is located in (story

to do is show your Moose Card to enter. I wonder
how they were able to get that number for their

in that area.
In other news, I attended Illinois Day at
Mooseheart. Saturday, September 6th was a
perfect day. What a great campus. Mooseheart

difference. I would like to extend huge thank you
to everyone who has donated to the fund so far. To
date, we have reached $4,602. in donations. As
a note, we are accepting donations in any amount

donated to the Centennial Fund will be spent on
projects to improve our lodge. For any donation,
please note on the check or envelope that it is

please see any Board of Officers member. The
fund has $1000 already raised and earmarked
for helping the Moose Legion purchase a new
furnace and $1400 for a new, larger deep fat fryer
for the Kitchen. We are now working on replacing
the dishwasher in the kitchen with a bigger, more
efficient unit. The cost of the Washer is over $4700

The latest Queen of Hearts Raffle winner Guy
Seemman accepts his check of 80% of the
$204,000 jackpot from the Queen of Hearts
committee on Friday 8/22. The year long raffle
helped bring in many new members, got many
current members back into the lodge and brought
in many visitors from neighboring lodges and
states. The QH Raffle has raised over $100,000
for much needed improvements around the lodge.
There were a couple rule changes for the current
QH raffle that will add more winners and higher
payouts each week. This also included not having
the QH Raffle the last Friday of every month. See
you Friday night!
