A FRAMEWORK FOR BUSINESS PROCESS, INFORMATION, APPLICATION & TECHNOLOGY
COBIT 5 builds on the foundation set by ISO 38500 for the corporate governance of IT and by ISO 9001 for
continuous improvement of business operations. It requires that an enterprise sets and maintains a governance
framework integrated and aligned with the enterprise’s approach to corporate governance and is capable of
ensuring that the expected benefits from using IT are realised in line with enterprise strategic objectives.
. Overview
This 1 day course provides participants with an
understanding of the COBIT 5 process to establish an IT
governance framework and how to put in place and maintain
effective enabling structures, principles, processes and
practices, with clarity of responsibilities and authority to
achieve the enterprise’s mission, goals and objectives.
Participants will learn about the approach, principles and
artefacts of an IT governance framework and its relationship
with the management system and operating environment.
They will learn how to evaluate, direct and monitor the use
of IT and create value.
This seminar will help participants make informed decisions
about how best to design, develop, implement, manage and
measure their IT governance efforts.
Seminar Objectives
Participants will gain an understanding of the approach to
integrate and align the governance of enterprise IT with the
corporate governance of the enterprise, the enterprise’s
strategies and its business objectives.
On completion of this seminar participants will be able to:
 Demonstrate an understanding of the role of an IT
governance framework
 Guide organizations about the implementation of an IT
governance framework based on the enterprise’s
decision-making model and authority levels.
 Assess the extent an organization has implemented an
effective IT governance framework
 Assist an organization design and implement the
necessary structures, processes and mechanisms of an IT
governance framework.
Seminar Outline
Participants will learn through discussion and practical
examples how to design and implement an IT Governance
Framework in accordance with the COBIT 5 process EDM01.
This course will assist participants analyse governance
requirements and establish a suitable governance framework
for delivering value from IT-related processes in accordance
with business needs whilst optimising risk management and
resource usage.
