Admission Requirements :
• Bachelor’s degree
• Current “A”/Standard Professional teacher licensure
and one year of teaching experience
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 in major or 2.5 overall

• Three professional references: one of a current
administrator/supervisor who is familiar with
your teaching/career goals
Accreditation
The Master of Arts in Education – Reading Education Program is fully
accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education
(NCATE), the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI),
and the Southern Association of College and Schools (SACS). All of the
M.A.Ed. programs at UNCP are revised to meet the Master’s Advanced
Competencies of the NC Department of Public Instruction and the
UNC Board of Governors.
