1.
STUDENT RIDERSHIP SURVEY – This week, October 20
through October 24 is student ridership survey week. If you are
an eligible bus rider, and plan on riding the bus during this
school year, we encourage you to ride the bus from home to
school this week. If you are not sure and think that you are
eligible, please come to the office to clarify your eligibility. If
you are riding STA - using a district provided bus pass you
must attend school at least three of five days next week to
remain eligible to receive these district provided passes.
Please see the office if you have questions regarding this

UNITY DAY – Is Wednesday, October 22. Orange ribbons will
be passed out, please wear them to honor this anti-bullying
awareness day. (KOC10-22)

HOMEWORK CENTER – If you plan to access the Homework
Center in the library, please arrive no later than 3pm. (SE

COATS FOR KIDS – Please donate your new or gently used
coats for the Ferris Coat Drive. Students can turn donations in
to their 2nd period class. The 2nd period with the most coats will
be awarded a pizza party. The drive runs through October 31.

THE HOMEWORK CENTER is looking for students who can
tutor in English, upper level math and science. If you are
interested, please stop by and see Ms. Ellerd in Student

 SENIORS, ANOTHER GREAT SCHOLARSHIP
OPPORTUNITY - Comcast Leaders and Achievers: Ferris can
nominate one senior for a $1,000 award. The applicant must
have a strong commitment to community service, strong
academics and leadership. A fantastic scholarship. Ferris has
had a recipient every year. To apply, submit your detailed
resume to Mrs. Vincent no later than November 1.

STCU HUNDRED DOLLAR PROJECT - has a great
opportunity to win up to $2,500 for a team of students (two or
more) who have a personal passion project. Once you have
created an idea, submit your entry by October 24. More

SENIORS – Lots of news from Mrs. V, your Senior Class
Advisor:
 Senior advisory will meet on Thursday, October 23 in the
College Career Center at 8:15. Agenda: Discussion on having
a live band for prom. Rubber Chicken T-Shirts. All are
welcome. (LV10-23)
 EPSILON SIGMA ALPHA FOUNDATION (ESA) - The ESA
Foundation awards over 41 scholarships annually. They vary is
criteria, and amounts. Just a few examples: Nursing;
Interpreter for the Deaf; Architecture; Interior Design; Medical,
and many are general. Most scholarships required a GPA of
3.0 or higher. Go to www.epsilonsigmaalpha.org. Click on
"Scholarships" and follow the information. It will ask for the
state you reside in. GREAT SCHOLARSHIPS (Mrs. Vincent is
impressed). The College Career Center has a copy of the
scholarships. Deadlines vary.
STAFF NEWS
1.
UNITED WAY – Donation forms were placed in your mailbox
yesterday. Please help Barbara Tappa by returning them
pronto to my mail box. The packet needs to be turned in by
Monday, October 27. Your attention to this is very much
appreciated.

SCHOOL WIDE COLLABORATION takes place Thursday,
October 23.

The Homework Center (HWC) is looking for teachers in math
and science to work 1-2 days per week Mondays through
Thursdays from 3:00-4:00pm for the 2014-15 school year.
Teachers will be paid at the hourly rate for a supplemental
position. Please contact Sara Ellerd by Tuesday, October 21 at
