Parent-Teacher Conferences at Mentor High
School held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on:
If you wish to hold a longer conference, please
make an appointment with the teacher at a mutually convenient time.

-Teacher Conferences.
The teachers will be stationed in the gym,
the student dining room and other areas of
Mentor High School. Signs will identify
the departments.
Discussion with the staff member should be
limited to approximately five (5) minutes.
Parent - Teacher Conference Ideas
The purpose of parent-teacher conferences is
for parents and teachers to share information
about the progress your child is making in
school. The goal of the conference is an exchange of information, thoughts, and ideas
that will help the child become more successful in the classroom. The conference helps the
parent and teacher form a partnership on
behalf of the child and helps both parties
understand the needs and expectations of the
child, the parent, the teacher, and the specific
course.
Please consider the following suggestions for
making parent-teacher conferences successful:
 Please remember time is limited. Other
parents need to talk with the teacher, so
please be brief.
 Be prepared.
 Write notes to bring to the conference.





Include:
 Information about your child’s home life
which may be important for the teacher
to know;
 Questions about your child’s progress;
 How you can contribute to your child’s
success in school;
 Your concerns about what is going on in
the class.
Write questions you may have in advance.
Ask about coming assignments, projects,
tests, and/or other pertinent information.
Be friendly– if there is a problem, the best
way to solve it is to work together. Contributing to a positive conference atmosphere
leads to effective problem solving.
Listen carefully and objectively—the teacher
and the school’s goal is to help students succeed. The recommendations you receive are
designed to help your child.
Advocate for your child as necessary.

 Information about your child’s progress,
grades, attitude, and behavior.
 Recommendations for improvements and
answers to your questions.
 Information about how you can best communicate with the teacher.
Parent-teacher conferences should be a positive experience. Even if your child is having
difficulty, the conferences should include positive, productive discussion aimed at helping
your child improve. When parents and teachers become partners working in the best interest of a child’s success, great things can be accomplished. Our goal, like yours, is the success
of each student.
The purpose of school is learning at high levels
for all students. A successful parent-teacher
conference is one-step in accomplishing that
purpose.
