New Jersey Action Coalition (NJAC) Seamless Academic Progression Summit II New Jersey Hospital Association, Princeton, NJ Nov. 25, 2014 Registration and Breakfast: 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Program Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. Fee: $100 per person Location: NJHA Conference & Event Center 760 Alexander Road, Princeton, NJ The Institute of Medicine’s Report (IOM), Future of Nursing: Leading Change Advancing Health, key message states, “nurses should achieve higher levels of education and training through an improved educations system that promotes seamless academic progression.” The goal of the IOM report is to achieve 80 percent BSN or higher by 2020. This program will inform academic practice and other key stakeholders on the work of New Jersey and other states toward reaching this goal. In addition, the Summit will highlight the workforce needs identified by key nursing leaders. Objectives: 1. Describe three (3) initiatives on academic progression at a national and state level that impact on workforce outcomes. 2. Identify two (2) components of the competency based model that can be applied to all academic practice partnerships. 3. Describe how the Washington Model components can be adapted to academic programs in New Jersey and create a seamless academic program. 4. Compare and contrast the New York and Florida Model. Identify two (2) common and difference elements that impact on seamless academic progression. 5. Define two (2) common needs of practice settings that a seamless academic progression can impact. Target Audience: Deans and directors, CNOs, directors of nursing, regulatory and legislative stakeholders. Continuing Education Credits: HRET-NJHA is an approved provider of continuing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s COA.
