Who Should Attend
This 2.5 hour interactive program is intended for physicians of all specialties who are
interested in practical ways to reduce the potential for malpractice liability.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:



Evaluate current reform initiatives in the arena of reimbursement as a method to
integrate quality improvements into their practice patterns;
Address trends in Texas as well as the country in reorganizing around new
insurance initiatives, Medicaid reimbursement, performance standards and
affiliations between large provider groups;
Assess how health reform generally, and the ACA in particular, is effecting
patients and the public.
About the Speaker
Sarah Freymann Fontenot, BSN, JD is a lawyer and a nurse. She taught Hospital Law and
Public Health Law in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale Medical
School for two years and has been the Health Law professor for the Department of Health
Care Administration at Trinity University in San Antonio since 1997. She has been teaching
extensively for TMLT since 1998 and also teaches courses across the country for a variety of
professional organizations, including the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE,)
and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE.) Since January 2013, Ms.
Fontenot has been published regularly in a column on the Affordable Care Act for the
Physician Executive Journal of Medical Management (PEJ.)
