I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in
Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the
Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was

(please note that these presentations will take place in the Kemper Room at 9:15

2 Nov: “The Art of Living Now and Beyond” Dr. Doug Smucker (Program
Director of Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship)
PER CAPTIA: We are continuing to ask for a voluntary contribution from members
to offset the denominational per capita assessment for each member of a church.
The total for 2014 is $28.69 per person. Simply make a check out to Pleasant Ridge
Presbyterian Church for the amount you are able to give and note “Per Capita” on
the memo line to differentiate the contribution from your regular pledge. We
thank you for your continued support for the Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church,
The Presbytery of Cincinnati, The Synod of the Covenant, and The General
Assembly of the PC (USA).
THEOLOGY @ THE MOVIES: The Rev.s Edward Goode and Amy Snow will be
holding joint Theology @ the Movies discussions with any interested participants
from their congregations on Wednesday, October 29th at 6:30pm at the
Presbyterian Church of Wyoming. Wednesday night dinner will be served starting
at 5:30 and if you wish to join in the meal before the movie discussion please let
Pastor Amy know: [email protected] or leave a note in her box.
The movie being discussed will be Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013) PG-13.
Ken McWhorter will be showing the movie at PRPC on Oct. 26th at 3:30pm for
those who wish to participate at that time. The movie is also available through
Netflix, Amazon streaming, and the Cincinnati Public Library if you wish to watch
the movie on your own before the discussion on the 29th.

We will meet at Molly Malone’s on Friday November 21st to discuss Cry the
Beloved Country with members of both congregations. A showing date and time
has yet to be determined.
GROWING BOLDER: Nov. 12th 11am-1pm Kemper Room. Are you dreading
downsizing? Are you wondering if the time is right? Do you just want to get more
organized? We will hear from professional organizer Karen Donorovich about ways
to purge without pain. Come with your questions and we will have a great
discussion. We will be serving a simple lunch of salad, soup and bread. Please RSVP
631-9707 ext 103 so we have enough for everyone! Pastor Amy and Emily Morgan
facilitating.
MONTHLY COMMUNION: We are looking for more volunteers with serving
communion on the first Sunday of each month. Anyone who has been ordained
either a Deacon or an Elder is eligible to serve. Communion has been served by
intinction because it requires fewer volunteers, but would like to begin serving in
the pews again. Emails will be sent to elders and deacons a few weeks before the
next Communion Sunday each month to request volunteers for serving. We would
appreciate some help. If you are only comfortable serving a certain way, please
reply with specificity. We will definitely need extra help on the next Communion

Sunday (November 2 ). Please let Beau or Allison McGrath know if you are
available to help out.
PEACEMAKING OFFERING: Contributions to the Peacemaking Offering are still
being received. Your gifts will be used to promote peace and justice efforts locally
and around the world. Envelopes are in the pew racks. Thank You!
HORIZONS BIBLE STUDY: All are welcome to join a monthly scripture study on the
first Wednesday of each month at 10AM in the Kemper Room, September through
April. The scripture study is based on Paul’s writings in the second letter to the
Corinthian church, in which he deals with aspects of faith such as grace,
forgiveness, image of God and reconciliation. For a copy of the study book ($6) or
for more information please contact Tiffany Zents at [email protected] or by
calling the church office.
FELLOWSHIP/COFFEE HOUR HOSTS are needed on Sunday morning to prepare the
punch and donut holes. Two slots are open, one four times a year and one six
times a year. If you could help out, please contact Deb McWhorter at 351-8672 or

TUTORS NEEDED FOR TEAM WORKS! If you are interested in participating in our
mission outreach with Pleasant Ridge Montessori, we would love to have you!
Individuals interested tutoring will need to fill out a CPS Volunteers Tutor
Application available online at www.cycyouth.org/help/volunteer-signup-form/.
Prospective tutors must now attend a CPS training as well. For questions regarding
the tutor application process, volunteers may also contact Dara Jenkins, Districtwide Resource Coordinator for Tutoring & After School directly, at 513-363-0569
or [email protected]. For information on participating in TEAM Works program,
please contact Tiffany Zents.
THE 2014 CHRISTMAS MARKETS will be held Friday, November 14 from 5-8 and
Saturday, November 15 from 10-2. Many of the same booths will be back including
Epicure, Candy, Woodworking, Felt Ornaments, Gifts Galore, Antiques and Furniture,
plus some others. Santa will make his appearance, as usual, and there will be
children’s activities as well. Food will be served in Judd Hall featuring beef barbeque,
pizza, bean soup and cornbread. More help is needed in the kitchen. There is still
time to make some American Girl Doll clothes or do some sewing or knitting.
The Antiques and Collectibles Booth could use more nice jewelry. If you’d like to
donate some, please call JoAnn Ruff at 561-7208.
IN THE COMMUNITY
THE CARING PLACE: The U.S. Department of Agriculture is no longer providing peanut
butter to The Caring Place. Please pick up an extra jar during your next shopping trip
and place it in the Kemper foyer barrel. Thank you for your continued support.
