The National Library of Cambodia
In an age of globalization, reading and writing play an important role in knowledge attainment
self-advancement and social development. In an effort to participate in promoting book
publishing and reading in Cambodia, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and the National
Library of Cambodia is partnering with the Cambodian Librarians and Documentalists
Association, and other stakeholders including Sipar, Room to Read, SVA, IBBY, the French
Institute of Cambodia and Reahou Publishing House to organize the Cambodia Book Fair
2014. The Cambodia Book Fair is an annual event organized at a national level.
The goals of the Cambodia Book Fair 2014 are:
 To raise awareness about availability of books in Khmer or other foreign languages,
particularly books about Cambodia and children books
 To support Cambodian authors/writers and illustrators
 To promote the publishing industry in Cambodia
 To foster a passion for writing among the young generation
 To nurture a love and a habit of reading among the Cambodian population across ages
Program
Activities* during the three-day event include:
 Books exhibition participated by authors, publishers, librarians, and bookstores (some
books will be sold with special prices)
 Presentations on various topics including Khmer linguistics, Khmer literature and
reading (including early reading)
 Book signing sessions
 Storytime and educational activities for children
 Concert and lucky draw, and
 Other special programs
* The programs might change as deemed necessary by the Book Fair Committee.

Visitors
The Cambodia Book Fair is open to the general public for free of charge. Anyone can attend
the fair, including parents and young children, students and teachers, librarians, information
specialists, archivists, scholars, writers, illustrators, artists, publishers, or any interested
individuals.
