This one day seminar has been designed to enable delegates to understand the science behind capsule-based inhalers. The programme will provide a comprehensive overview of capsule-based inhalers for dry powder inhalation. It will consider various aspects of inhalation capsules and powders and provide a state of the art review of the technology available. This event will be an excellent opportunity to discuss the use of capsule-based inhalers and provide an informal environment to network with fellow inhalation professionals from industry and academia. Dr Imran Saleem is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Technology within the School of Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University, UK, since 2008. He obtained his Pharmacy degree from the same university and is a registered pharmacist. In 2003, he received his Doctor of Philosphy (Ph.D) in drug delivery from Aston University, UK. Upon completing his Ph.D he went on to undertake a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of New Mexico in the Advanced Drug Delivery Laboratory of Dr H Smyth, working in the area of dry powder inhalation. He has been working in and has published numerous papers in the area of pulmonary drug delivery since 2006. His research is aimed at developing novel delivery systems for targeting therapeutic agents to their site of action, with particular emphasis on lung diseases via dry powder pulmonary delivery. Brian Jones is Scientific Advisor for Qualicaps Europe, S.A.U. and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK. His research interests are in the properties of inhalation grade hypromellose capsules and their use in dry powder inhalers. Dr Nour Kayali is a senior mass spectrometrist in the Mass Spectrometry Center of Complutense University of Madrid. He is involved in developing methods in GCMS and LCMS to identify and quantify individual organic molecules in a biological or non-biological extracts.
