We had an awesome Choctober full of fun games, a nasty Chocolate Slip ‘N Slide, tons of chocolate to eat, and a Fountain with all the goodies! You can’t beat that! We had our annual Fall Fish Fry and Dessert Auction that went great. Thank you to all the youth, parents, men, and bakers that made the night possible. We made $2,700. Thank you to the church for being so generous. And also a big thank you to the O’Briens for hosting our Youth Ministry Fall Party! What is on the books for November? November Sunday, November 2 – Student Leadership Meeting – 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Pastor Jerrod’s (12404 Village Ln, OKC) – If you are or want to be a Student Leader (SLT) in our Youth Ministry, be there for our third meeting of the fall Semester. You can help plan our fall schedule, learn what it means to get people connected to our ministry, and be a part of the awesome future that God has in store for us! Sunday, November 16 – House Church – 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Everyone is together at Pastor Jerrod’s (12404 Village Ln, OKC). Come hang out, have fun, play games and talk about Jesus! You can’t get any better than that! Sunday, November 23 – Thanksgiving Dinner House Church – 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Everyone is together at Pastor Jerrod’s (12404 Village Ln, OKC). Pastor Jerrod will be providing the turkey and ham, we just need you to bring a side dish or dessert to share with your friends. Wednesday, November 26 - NO WEDNESDAY SERVICES - Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday with your family! Men’s Ministry Men’s Breakfast – Saturday November 15 - This is an awesome breakfast, great fellowship time with pretty cool guys, and a good morning challenge to remind us of what it means to be christian men, fathers, bosses and employees! Don’t miss this time of encouragement! Shotgun Trap Shoot and Steak Night at the Young’s was Saturday October 25. Thank you to Ron and Patty for opening up your ranch to us! Thank you to all of the men that helped grill and serve food! Thank you to Kelly Barcol for sharing your story with us! And thank you to everyone that came out and made the night AWESOME!!! We will be eating our Thanksgiving dinner earlier this month (November 11) because our second meeting is so close to Thanksgiving. Pam Curtis will be “the chef” for this feast, but she asked if the ladies will bring a dessert? We invite you to join us if you are 55 or older as we enjoy this special time together. Remember, we are available if you need a Grief Basket. We feel this is an important ministry and we are happy to be a part of it. Please bring your donation to the church no later than Sunday, November 16. November 23 - December 24 Isn’t it amazing how Christmas is symbolized by so many images. Images from that First Christmas, and images that have become meaningful through the ages: A Nativity…Colorful Lights…A Star… A Candle…Shepherds…Angels… Each one captures of piece of the message we celebrate during the Christmas season. Each one paints a picture, emits a meaning, and produces an emotion. This series will look at the different images of Christmas and the incredible part they play in announcing again, “Immanuel has come!” And that has changed EVERYTHING! Exercise Classes Sundays & Wednesdays at 8 P.M. LaRhonda Pennon is leading the Zumba class, and Pastor Jerrod is leading a Biggest Loser workout for anyone that doesn’t want to Zumba. Life can be a series of gains & losses. Most of us do pretty well handling new things in our life, but losses can be traumatic. On Sunday, November 9, from 12:30 3:00 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall at Shartel Church of God, Wanda Chiles will be leading a workshop on the grieving process and the journey God has given us through the pain of letting go. We will look at what kind of losses prompt this process, what the typical stages of grieving are & why, how to tell when you are stuck and need extra help, and how to be there for a friend. Lunch and childcare will be provided for all those attending. Please sign up by Wednesday, November 5 by contacting the church office at 691-1216. We would love to have you there! Newcomer’s Luncheon November 16, 2014 We want to invite you to our Newcomer’s Luncheon after the second service on November 16 in the Fellowship Hall. This is a chance for you to meet our staff and get a little better acquainted with who we are as a church. We do not have a formal membership as a church, so you will not be asked to sign anything or commit to anything. This is just a chance for you to ask questions and a chance for us to share our hearts. We provide the lunch and child care. Contact the church office at 691-1216. Hope to see you there!
