Athletes can compete up and age group, but cannot compete in the lower age group. UNIFORM/BIBS: All athletes competing at the 2014 All Schools Track & Field Championships must wear school sport uniform. If the athlete’s school does not have a suitable school sport uniform to compete in a white/black plain t/shirt, crop, shorts or compressions are permitted. All athletes will be designated a bib number which will need to be worn for all their events throughout the weekend. Athletes can pick up their bib from the Athlete TIC area under the main grandstand when checking in for their events. SPIKES: At Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park: The part which projects from the sole or heel must not exceed 7mm for track events and 9mm for all field events. Concical, pyramid and Christmas tree (compression tier) spikes are permitted. Needle or pin spikes are not permitted. These are available for purchase on the day of the event for $10.00. EVENT ENTRIES: An athlete cannot enter the same or similar event in more than one age group on the same weekend. Note: 1500m Walk, 3000m Walk & 5000m Walk; 110 Hurdles, 100 Hurdles, 90m Hurdles, 80m Hurdles and 60m Hurdles; 200m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles and the 2000m & 300m Steeple are classified as similar events. If an athlete brings their own implement it will then be available to all other participants within the event. Athletes who do not checkin will be scratched from that event. Pole Vault athletes must check-in 90 minutes prior to the first scheduled round. Insufficient athlete check-in will result in: a. Where heats, semis and finals have been scheduled in the timetable. If insufficient athletes report to the TIC by the required time for heats requiring progression to semi-finals, then the semi-finals shall be cancelled with the heats run at the HEAT TIME. b. Where heats, semis and finals or heats and finals only have been scheduled in the timetable. If insufficient athletes report to the TIC for the need to conduct heats or semi-finals, then only the athletes who reported and signed in will progress to the final. The final will be held at the heat time. EVENT CALL ROOM: All athletes must report to the call room prior to any event in which they compete (heats, semi-finals and finals) at the times specified below. Athletes must be dressed in their competition uniform and ready to compete. Any athlete who does not report to call room will be disqualified. In the case of a clash of events please fill out a clash of events form which can be found in the call room. Athletes will be marshalled and their competition uniforms, bib number(s), hip numbers (if applicable), shoes and other equipment will be checked to ensure they comply with competition rules. Athletes are not allowed to leave the call room once they have checked in, until a marshal accompanies athletes to the start line. Any athlete who does not proceed to the start of the event with the marshal will not be allowed to compete. Athletics Victoria Inc. Under 14 – Under 16 age groups will have three (3) attempts, with the top eight (8) to then get one (1) more attempt. WITHDRAWALS: Any athlete who check’s in and/or competes in any round of an event in a championship, and qualifies for a subsequent round, but withdraws without a signed medical certificate, will not be permitted to compete in any event conducted by Athletics Victoria for a period of 14 days from the date of the event in which the athlete failed to compete. The medical certificate does not have to be produced for the athlete to scratch from the event, but must be produced within seven days or before the next event the athlete competes in (whichever is the sooner) to the Athletics Victoria office. If the medical certificate is produced during the championship it must be given to the Administration Delegate. LEG NUMBERS: Leg numbers will be worn for events 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, walk and steeple events. Leg numbers must be worn on the right side of the right leg on the athlete’s shorts, low enough so their top does not cover it. Leg numbers are now sticky ones which do not need to be pinned. Leg numbers will be distributed to athletes in the call room before leaving for the track. Athletics Victoria Inc. Note: Taking safety factors into account, Athletics Victoria reserves the right to change the number of finalists in events. For events with two or more rounds, invitation athletes can only make up 50% of the final field, therefore a maximum of four invitation athletes can progress through to the 100m final. This also applies to the additional three attempts in relevant field events; only four invitation athletes can progress through to the additional throws/jumps round. If there is not enough Victorian registered athletes to fill 50% of the final, additional invitation athletes will be progressed PRESENTATIONS: Presentations for the first, second and third Victorian school athletes will be conducted as soon as possible after the final for each event. As we have some athletes from interstate/national if those athletes finish before the top 3 Victorian athletes they will receive and invitational medal. AWD athletes will receive medals in the U16 age group and the U18 age group. First, second and third will be determined by using the classification table supplied from Athletics Australia. The referee may decide on the protest or may refer the matter to the Jury of Appeal. If the referee makes a decision, the athlete may appeal to the Jury of Appeal within 30 minutes of the Referee’s decision. The appeal must be in writing, on the appropriate form signed by the athlete or a responsible official on behalf of the athlete and submitted to the Competition Secretary/Administration Manager. The protest must be accompanied by a deposit of $50 which will be forfeited if the protest is not upheld (IAAF Rule 146). Protest forms are available from Administration. FALSE START/BLOCKS: In all track events a competitor will be disqualified when he/she has recorded one false start in an event. ELECTRONIC DEVICES: The use of mobile phones, pagers or similar devices in the competition area are not permitted. They must not be taken into the competition area at any time during a Victorian Championship. An athlete can be suspended from competition by the event referee for an infringement of the rule above. The competition area is defined as the Call Room and the Main Arena. If any other areas are used for competition the Championships & Special Meets Committee will advise what constitutes the competition area. CAR PARKING: Ticketed parking can be found in the car park along Aughtie Drive and also along Albert Rd. Please note there is a Swimming Victoria meet on throughout the weekend as well at MSAC, please arrive early to get parking as we will not be holding events for athletes who are late.
