November
2014
This time of year gets so busy for most people. I hope all
of you can take some time to relax and truly enjoy the
beautiful months coming up and the joys that the coming
season brings. We are looking forward to spending
another wonderful holiday season with all of you.
This month we may also see some snow flying so I want
to take this time to remind you of safety while you are
out. Remember to take it slow, wear non-slip shoes or
boots. Stay only on sidewalks or areas that have been
cleared of snow and ice, use handrails when available,
and avoid getting out after dark or in hazardous weather
conditions. If you must walk on snow or ice, take special
precautions to avoid falling. Try to stay on the sidewalk.
If you must step off the curb, stay as close to the edge of
the street as possible. Hazardous driving conditions may
keep motorists from stopping or braking effectively.
Finally, I hope to see you at our special Thanksgiving
Dinner on November 19 at 2:00pm. It is a fun time for
the staff to give thanks with our Village family as we chip
in and help the kitchen staff serve the delicious meal.
—Wendy

will be posted on the Bulletin Board about a week
before the outing.

Dinner Reservation Deadline Changing—Please Note
Beginning November 1, 2014, we are changing
the time by which dinner reservations need to
be made. All dinner orders will need to be
called in no later than 1:00 p.m. that day.
You may leave messages on the office or
kitchen answering machines for your
reservations. These added 2 hours will help
give Chef Suzanne enough time to prepare
dinner for everyone interested.
Please be aware there may be other times that reservations may
need to be called in even earlier. These situations might include
popular meals such as Pot Roast and Ruben Sandwiches. Our
monthly special dinners will always have special deadlines. Any of
these reservation deadline changes will be noted on the menu
handed out that week. Of course, if you have any questions on these
changes please don’t hesitate to come talk with Wendy.
November Book Club—A
Classic This Month
The Book Club meets on Friday,
November 21 at 6:30 PM in the Private
Dining Room. Newcomers are always
welcome to join this group. This
month’s title is the classic To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Please see Sally Diepen to make
arrangements to get a copy of this month’s book.

Too Cold Outside?
It’s Indoor Exercise Time
“Talk Turkey”
Advanced Planning
The Village has plenty of options in
addition to exercising on the
equipment in our Fitness center
Most seniors have some plans
in place for their families to
handle health and financial
decisions in the event they
aren’t able to communicate
wishes on their own. But have
you kept that plan current?
Have you thought is through to
the very last detail? It doesn't
hurt to check on your advanced
directives each year to make
sure they are still what you
want.
On November 5 at 2:00pm in
the Mini-Theater, come to an
informative session with Kelley
Bricker from Mercy VNS and
Hospice called “Talk Turkey:
End of Life Advanced
Planning”. She will provide the
latest information to help you
evaluate your plans and update
them if necessary.
