First of all I would like to welcome the Snowbirds back.
Hope everyone had a good time at the Halloween party.
We have some great events planned for the rest of the year. If you have an idea
for an event or fund raiser, please bring it up to the Post Officers. Your input is
appreciated.
It is time for Buddy Poppies. Last May we had a good turn-out. We would like to
improve on that. This is a great time to educate our community about what the
VFW is all about. The Buddy Poppy donations are essential in helping our
Veteran’s in need. We have 522 members. If you have just an hour to hand out
Buddy Poppies and collect donations, it would be Greatly Appreciated.
We have Buddy Poppy sign-up sheets posted in the post.
We will be collecting can food for our food drive during that time also. If you
have a couple cans of food to bring in it would be appreciated.
We will also be having our Thanksgiving dinner. Come on out and join us.
Don’t forget to thank your Canteen Manager and Bartenders. They are doing a
great job.
Remember volunteers are essential. We cannot operate without you.

Jr. Vice Commander
First of all I wish to thank the membership for the honor of serving you as the
Junior Vice Commander. It is a responsibility in which I plan to give my very best
efforts.
You may have noticed that the PHC has been working very hard to see
improvements and repairs made to the Post. A big thank you to Troy Simon for
his leadership on these projects. But more can be done and it requires more
volunteer participation. I ask that all that can do so give a little time to the Post in
whatever capacity you can. The Post belongs to all of us and requires many
hands to make it what we would all like it to be.
Stay tuned for upcoming events. We are putting together some awesome
activities that everyone will surely enjoy. And don’t forget: the Marine Corps
birthday is November 10th. Semper Fi!

Membership, membership, membership If you are an annual member take time
to look at the board. If your name is on it it's because you owe your 2014/2015
dues. Dec 31st is rapidly approaching and your renewals are needed. Have you
considered becoming a "Life" member; this saves money in the long run. There is
also a Payment Plan. The VFW Life Membership installment plan allows any VFW
member/applicant to purchase a Life Membership by making either installment
after an initial payment of $45. The member will be issued an annual
membership card and can elect, upon receipt of the first monthly invoice, to pay
via check, credit card or ACH Debit. The applicable Life Membership fee is to be
determined from the schedule using the applicant's age on Dec. 31 of the
installment plan year in which the application is submitted, regardless of actual
date of birth. A permanent Life Membership card will be issued upon completion
of this agreement.

PHC Committee Chair
Just a quick note, as most of you now know, I have been away from the post for a
couple of weeks. I am taking a leave of absence for a while. At this time I am not
certain for how long. I have family needs that are my priority at this time. For
now, Troy Simon will be your PHC Chair in my absence. Please refer any and all
PHC related things to him.
Thanks for your understanding. Hope to be back soon.
Thanks again to all my comrades. - Pauline M. Costa
Post Chaplains Corner
As your Chaplain I really do try to stay on top of illnesses and deaths of our
members. But once again may I remind you-----When you receive a call from
someone about a member, please don't just take a name and hang up. GIVE
THEM MY PHONE NUMBER (951-259-2133) so I can ask the questions that will
give me the information I need. With that being said, let's continue to bring
people in to our post and we can ALWAYS use more help in the kitchen........and
you don't have to cook!
A word of wisdom----No one is listening until you make a mistake. And--- there
are 3 kinds of people in the world-those who CAN count, and those who CAN'T.
For God and Country, Grace David, USN(R), Retired
Canteen Manager Corner
Welcome to Fall
Hopefully by the time this Bugler is delivered we will be enjoying cooler weather.
I know I'm ready for some. The Canteen is doing great, receiving a well needed
facelift and getting ready for the holidays. We have 3 parties booked in
November, Football on Mons, Thurs and Sundays. Daily drink specials and some
new lunches. Don't forget Veterans Day on Nov 11. And we will be open and
serving dinner on Thanksgiving Day.
In December we will have the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Day on Sunday the
21st. The Canteen will be Closed on Christmas Day .
Come by, enjoy all that Fall brings with fellow Veterans, family and friends!

LADIES AUX PRESIDENT CORNER
I don’t think that it is necessary for me to tell you everything that’s going on
with the Auxiliary since it’s on the calendar.
The office of Junior Vice President is open, Betty Blair has resigned for
personal reasons. Per procedure, nominations and elections will be at the
December meeting. This is the thirty day notice to all our members.
Look for the Christmas Exchange Party in December. Bring a wrapped gift
valued at $10.00 or more. That’s when the fun starts. Men and women are
both encouraged to play. There will be finger foods and munchies throughout
the game for those who participate.
Cook Books are “HERE” they make nice stocking stuffers.
I wish everyone a safe and happy holidays, which are creeping up on us really
fast.
Thanks to all that have been so helpful with dinners and events. You make
working fun.
Thank You,
Sandi MacKenzie

Men’s Auxiliary
The Men’s Auxiliary has been and continues to do what it can to support our
Post. We have a project or two in the works in hopes of improving the facility
and should have one completed soon.
Tony, our Secretary and Treasurer, routinely offers to provide meals morning,
noon and night. His breakfast’s on Saturday morning hit the spot especially
before a day of college football or the Post General Meeting. Sunday Sport’s Day
offers a Tony surprise and a great place to watch the games. Come on down and
enjoy the company and food. Check the calendar for when he’s behind the grill.
We recently completed our “tour” standing in for the Ladies Auxiliary on Taco
Thursdays. I never thought making tacos, burritos, tostadas and nachos could
keep us so busy. Although tired at the end of my shift, I enjoyed working with
members of the Men’s Aux and most of all meeting and greeting members of our
Post. Butch, our Senior Vice, knows everyone and kept me up to date as to
who’s who.
I want to remind Men’s Auxiliary members that we meet every 3rd Tuesday of
the month at 1800 out back. Come on over and help us support the Post our
meetings don’t last too long - usually. The annual Buddy Poppy Drive is coming
soon and we could sure use the help of our many members for that drive. If you
have any questions contact any of the Men’s Aux officers.

Men’s Auxiliary Sr. Vice
Here we are starting another year.
We have several new officers of both of the Auxiliaries and I am looking forward
r\to working with all of them to make this a successful year.
We have a lot of projects this coming year and we can certainly use volunteers.
Good luck to the Officers and may we all have a good year.

AMERICANISM CHAIRPERSON
First of all, I want to thank all who came out to honor our veterans and
Patriots at special programs and occasions during the previous 2 months.
November 4 may be the last chance to save our nation from despotism and
dictatorship, Your vote counts, so use it!
November 10 marks the Marine Corps’ 239th birthday—please join us in wishing
the Corps a Happy Birthday.
On November 11th we will observe Veterans Day, previously known as Armistice
Day, the history of this occasion dates back to World War I (“The War to End All
Wars”). On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 an armistice
between Germany and the Allied nations came into effect.
In 1926, the United States Congress officially recognized the end of World War I
and declared that the anniversary of the armistice should be commemorated
with prayer and thanksgiving.
On May 13, 1938, Congress declared November 11 in each year a legal holiday,
known as Armistice Day. Originally intended to honor World War I veterans with
World War II requiring the largest mobilization of service men in the history of
our nation, along with American forces who had fought in Korea in 1954, VEW
and other veteran service groups urged Congress to change the word “Armistice”
to “Veterans”. Congress approved this change and on June 1, 1954, November 11
became a day to honor all American veterans, wherever and whenever they had
served. Later in November, we will be awarding our Voice of Democracy &
Patriot’s Pen winner, come out and listen to these future leaders.
Sunday December 7th we will honor those men and women who fought and died
or survived the onslaught of the Japanese Empire on that “Day of Infamy” 73
years ago.
Check your calendars for other events and detail, exact time, etc.
Until next year have a joyous Christmas and stay well.
John.
