KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: Salameda
scored 25 points to lead Angels to a
98-89 PHILBACK 5’8” basketball
victory over Elite Friday afternoon
at the Hawally Disabled Sports
Club.
The Angels guard was 8 for 13
from the field and added six assists
while his team mates forward Tura
added 23 points and Reyes pulled
down 15 rebounds and added 10
points to his side’s slate in the 5’8”
clash.
Angels took an early 4-point lead
in the first quarter, and then pulled
away again in the second to finish
with a 5-point lead midway into the
game. But an Elite rally ignited by
Chris Moje early in the third saw
Elite pull within two points with
7:40 still left to play in the round.
Stalwart defender Milben picked
up his fifth foul and left for an early
shower late in the third quarter with
still 3:40 left in the quarter, making
Kings win
Hasawi Team
Al Jefferson had 21 points, and
Gary Neal added 17 points in a
reserve role for the Hornets (1-2),
who lost their second straight.
BASKETBALL

from 3-point range in the game totally. He made his first three shots, all
from behind the arc during the first 3
minutes.
Moje stole the ball from Tura and
converted it into a breakaway dunk,
then intercepted a pass by Salameda
to set up a breakaway layup by Rey
13 seconds later. That sent Elite
cruising ahead in the final stretch.
Angels attempted 14 free throws in
the third quarter and made 6, but
didn’t get to the line again until Tura
converted one of two with 36 seconds left in the final quarter.
Salameda’s layup and free throw
sent Angels surging 4 points ahead.
His 3-pointer with 30 seconds left
gave the Angels 6-point cushion at
the close of the third after a 25-14
run that brought the overall score to
81-95. Angels rolled on to conclude
the final quarter after an 18-19 spurt
that sealed their victory at 98-89 at
the buzzer. Chris Moje led Elite with
a game-high 29 points while Manalo
added 25 in the loss.
Elsewhere in the 5’8” division,
Marlon Batino scored 22 points,
Mangallan added 14 and 12
rebounds as Furuya recorded their
victory with a 72-58 drubbing of 5RB. Eddie Pangatungan had 16 points
and Manalansan added 16 in the 5RB loss. The 5-RB turned the ball
over 18 times leading to 23 Furuya
points.
In other 5’8” series games, Toda
Max won 83-72 against EMS in a
foul-riddled game that saw Max

Charlotte’s guard Michael KiddGilchrist fell awkwardly late in the first
quarter and didn’t return to the game.
Amar’e Stoudemire had 17 points for
the Knicks (2-1), who won their second
straight. Iman Shumpert added 15
points.
Heat 107, Raptors 102
In Miami, Chris Bosh scored 21
points and grabbed 11 rebounds as
Miami beat Toronto for the 16th straight
time.
Dwyane Wade added 19 points, 11
rebounds and seven assists for the Heat (30), who are the last unbeaten team in the
Eastern Conference. Luol Deng scored 18,
Shawne Williams added 16, and Mario
Chalmers finished with 12 for Miami.
DeMar DeRozan scored 30 points for
Toronto (2-1), which hasn’t beaten

Kyle Lowry added 22 points, including a layup that got the Raptors within
four with 21 seconds left. Jonas
Valanciunas scored 14, and Greivis
Vasquez finished with 12 for Toronto,
which was outrebounded 43-28.
Miami led by as many as 16 late in the
third quarter before the Raptors came
roaring back.
Kings 98, Clippers 92
In Los Angeles, DeMarcus Cousins
had 34 points and 17 rebounds, and
Rudy Gay added 25 points as
Sacramento handed the poor-shooting
Los Angeles Clippers their first loss.
The Kings (2-1) rallied from a 10point deficit in the third quarter and
outscored the Clippers 28-18 in the
fourth. They took the lead for good on a
layup by Gay with just under six minutes
to play.

Warriors 95, Trail Blazers 90
In Portland, Klay Thompson scored
29 points, including a go-ahead jump
shot with 8.7 seconds left, as the Golden
State Warriors defeated the Trail
Blazers.
The victory gives the Warriors three
straight wins to open the season — their
best start since 1994-95 when they
opened 5-0.
LaMarcus Aldridge had 26 points and
13 rebounds to lead the Blazers, who
dropped to 1-2 to start the season.
After wrestling for the lead throughout the fourth quarter, Aldridge’s layup
and a fadeaway jumper with 2:01 left
gave Portland a narrow 90-88 lead.
Andre Iguodala missed the second of
a pair of free throws for Golden State
with 26.3 seconds to go to keep the
Blazers in front. But Thompson nailed
the running jumper to give the Warriors
a 91-90 lead.
Steph Curry made free throws the rest
of the way for the final margin. Curry
finished with 21 points for the Warriors.
Sociedad has fired coach Jagoba
Arrasate with the Basque club struggling in the Spanish league.
Sociedad made the announcement a
day after losing 1-0 at home to
Malaga, leaving it with one win
through 10 rounds.
That win was a 4-2 comeback to
beat current leader Real Madrid in
round two.
Sociedad also failed to advance
from a playoff to the Europa League
group phase to start its disappointing
season.
Arrasate was in his second season

Mosley suspended
Peterson close to
reach ‘plea deal’
WASHINGTON,
Nov
2,
(RTRS): Minnesota Vikings
running back Adrian Peterson is
close to reaching a plea deal on
his child abuse case in Texas,
ESPN reported Sunday.
According to the report,
Peterson and his lawyers have
been negotiating a deal, which
could be completed by Tuesday.
It is not known what effect the
deal would have on his playing
status. Peterson has been on
paid leave since his arrest.
Officially, he is on the commissioner’s exempt list.

The Detroit Lions sent defensive tackle C.J. Mosley home
from London and suspended
him two weeks because he was
smoking marijuana, ESPN
reported.
The Lions only said a week
ago that Mosley was being disciplined for violating team rules.

The Washington Redskins’
team bus was in an accident as it
traveled to TCF Bank Stadium
for Sunday’s game against the
Minnesota Vikings. No players
were injured, and the Redskins
were transferred to another bus,
according to reports.
The bus hit the team’s second
bus, and the only reported injury
was to the leg of an escorting
officer, according to NFL.com.
