NAVI MUMBAI: Mumbai City FC will
look for consistency and a steady performance from the team when they
take on Delhi Dynamos FC in the
sixth round of the inaugural Hero
Indian Super League game at the
D.Y. Patil Stadium in Nerul on
Wednesday evening.
The hosts have six points to show
from their five outings so far and the
1-0 victory they managed to grind out
against Kerala Blasters on Sunday
would have given them confidence
that they can combine flair with resilience and still entertain the crowd.
The biggest area of concern for
coach Peter Reid was the recovery of
the players having played their last
match on Sunday and barring any
fitness concerns, Reid in all probability would like to field the same starting XI that maintained shape and

confirmed this while
speaking to this

Reddy also said,
“We have not come out
with the exact figure
of seats which will be
won during the
upcoming Navi
Mumbai Municipal
Corporation election
set any time early
next year. We have
just made a rough
estimate. The figures
have been compiled
but the turnout of
exact number of seats
in party’s favour is
not arrived at.” The
NMMC election is set
to take place any time
between Febru and
May next year.
The BJP has
opened its account for
the first time in Navi
Mumbai after its
candidate Manda
Mhatre upset the
Nationalist Congress
Party’s strongman
Ganesh Naik from
Belapur assembly
seat. However, it came
third in the election
for the Airoli assembly
segment which is
much lower than Shiv
Sena.
Given the fact that
the BJP has won the
Belapur assembly
seat, it is hopeful to
grab more seats in the
NMMC election
against the current
tally of only one seat.
The BJP will further
boost its prospects in
Airoli as the time
passes by. Many of the
disgruntled NCP and
Sena leaders may join
with the workers in
the near future to the
saffron party.
Ganesh Naik’s
main rival Manda
Mhatre heading the
Belapur seat is well
informed about the
political strategies of
the NCP and the

is bound to play a
solid role in consolidating the party base.
A large chunk of
voters will be with the
BJP owing to it being
in power in the state
as well as at National
level.

NMMC launches special campaign to control malaria/dengue
Destroying the mosquito eggs is the essence of the programme
By Vijay Bhor/
Chandrashekhar Hendve
CBD-BELAPUR: In
view of the increasing
incidence of malaria
and Dengue, Navi
Mumbai Municipal Corporation has launched a
special campaign from 5
November to 23 November, 2014 aimed at controlling the same. Mayor Sagar Naik and Municipal Commissioner A
L Jarhad are personally supervising its implementation.
“Malaria and dengue
spreading mosquitoes
are breeding in accumulated clean water.
Therefore it is necessary to remove accumulated water from all pos-
sible places,” says a
press note circulated by
the civic body. And the
participation of citizens
in the campaign is
equally important.
“Therefore, it is necessary that people remove
accumulated water
from every possible spot
like drinking water kettle at home, overhead
tanks, loft tanks etc. It
is necessary that these
containers are dried at
least once in eight days.
In addition,
garbage accumulated
on terraces,
tyres lying
in open spaces, even flower
pots,
plates kept
under them,
fridge defrost tray,
AC duct and
items
of
Feng Shui
are possible
places which
could breed
mosquitoes if
water is allowed to accumulate in them.
Therefore, care must be
taken to dry them at
least once in a week,”
the press note explains.
CMYK
Even water accumulated in public fountains
can be the breeding
ground for mosquitoes.
Another important
thing to note is that dengue mosquitoes bite during the day. Therefore,
they should be consid-
ered more dangerous.
The Commissioner
went round the city inspecting the implementation of the programme
on Wednesday. He was
accompanied by health
department chief Dr
Dipak Paropkari, DMC
Babasaheb Rajle, DMC
Subhash Ingale, Malaria control officer, Dr
Ujwala Oturkar and
other officials.
It is well known that
a kind of fish known lo-
cally as ‘gappi fish’ relishes the eggs of the
mosquitoes. In fact, it is
considered the best antidote for the mosquitoes.
That is why, NMMC
has decided to breed
them in large number
and distribute them to
the citizens free of cost.
“Those who are interested in making use of
them may contact the
nearest Urban Health
Center,” says the press
note.

Do’s and Don’t’s for the new
government – a few suggestions
We know that the new Maharashtra government is
yet to find its feet and muster enough numerical support to stay in office. We are sure it will succeed in
doing that. Once that is done, what should be its priorities? Here are a few suggestions.
First, let us take a look at the financial health of
the state government. By all means, it is deep in debt
and on the verge of bankruptcy. To call the government of the ‘Number One’ state in the country as facing bankruptcy may look awkward, but a debt of Rs
three lakh crore leaves us with no alternative. The
new government will have to tighten its purse strings.
CM Devendra Fadnavis has shown sagacity when he
said that he will follow on the footsteps of the union
government which has announced a near-ban on
the recruitment of new personal staff for ministers.
The government has to show thrift in every sphere by
controlling expenditure. Probably the next in importance is the question of toll plazas. The previous government being hard pressed for funds, decided to construct/maintain important roads on public-private-partnership (PPP) basis. The investors were to recover
their investment by collecting toll from the users.
Collecting toll on a bridge built across a river or a
creek may be justified as it cuts distance and saves
fuel. But to ask the motorists to cough up toll every
few kilometers looks atrocious. Construction of roads
is one of the basic responsibilities of the government.
To shift it on to the shoulders of the private sector is
unconscionable. This is the result of splurging money
on poverty alleviation projects. Good that the Modi
government has announced an end to the policy. As
for the toll plazas, the government should shut them
down at the earliest opportunity.
In one of the first statements made by the new CM,
he has pledged to take up the proposed Sewree-Nhava link bridge on priority. Building it may be inevitable in view of the up-coming Navi Mumbai International Airport. But otherwise, it is going to be a white
elephant. Land acquisition is going to be a big problem and the previous government has made it difficult
by offering excessive compensation packages to the
airport PAPs. The greed of the land owners has been
roused making new projects unviable. The Modi government has realized the mistake and expressed its
desire to re-visit the law enacted by the predecessor
government. We pin our hopes on it. Rest of the industrial projects, in any case, are going to be in the
private sector and the investors will take them up only
if they are viable. The grand dream of an industrial
boom may have to wait till the land prices come down
to a reasonable level. And we are sure, there are no
big infrastructural projects on the cards.
Whatever housing projects the previous government had conceived have to be pursued with vigour.
Without housing facilities, no business can flourish and
no city can prosper. Indeed, Mumbai turned into a
slum city for want to affordable housing.
Dilip Sengupta, Numerologist
NUMEROLOGY
People born during this
week of any year step into
the last lap of the New Moon,
beginning with Guru Nanak’s Birthday. And a rollicking start of Tulsi Vivah that
Lord grants you, you really
can’t complain. The New
Moon in Capricorn is just
the launching pad for you,
most auspicious for a new
beginning. Its fine placing
in Capricorn stirs you to put
in your best.
Work will be your top
priority and you will be setting your sights high. Ruthless ambition will be on display right at the start of the
week. Way to go! Money will
also be a priority. But don’t
work and money together,
anyway? You will be looking
seriously at investments
and every means possible
with which to augment your
income for the grand plans
you have in mind. All avenues of revenue will be closely scrutinized and you will
look at making improvements wherever you can. At
the same time, and quite uncharacteristically, you may
not be overtly expressive of
your emotions and this may
lead to misunderstandings
with loved ones. Your focus
is on work and money right
now and you will have no

Robber gang rounded up Cultural Youth Fest by Bombay
Smart work by Nerul police team
Bunts at Juinagar on 9 Nov
By Vikram Gaikwad
NERUL: An 8-member gang of robbers
which was preparing to
go after some target
was founded up by a
Nerul police team on
Friday night.
Following a tip off
that a gang of robbers
will be coming to go
after some target, a police team lay in wait in
Sector-18 Nerul. At
about 11.15 pm, they
spotted a Scorpio (No
MH-43/V-9916) parked
on the road and some
people standing by it.
As their movement
looked suspicious, the
cops tried to catch
them but the robbers
tried to drive away in
their vehicle. Not
wanting to be outwitted, the police team
gave them a chase in
their vehicle and managed to stop them
some distance away.
The cops also managed
to arrest Chetan Ambadas Madhvi (24),
Pranay Mohan Sable
(21), Surjit Surendra
Singh (20), Rajesh Dinkar Gaikar (20), Rasik
Ramdas Kajrolkar (20)
and Rushabh Rakesh
Singh (20). A search of
their persons yielded
one pistol, a sword,
chilly powder, some
rope an other items
used in robbery. Two of
their associates however managed to escape. Their names
have been given as Esdim Sharif and Sumit.
Police
have
launched a man hunt
for them,” informed Sr
PI Sangeeta Shinde
Alfonso in charge of
Nerul police station.

NMMT bus 105
This bus follows the BEST bus route No 504 to
most of the distance. But the difference is that
BEST’s is an ordinary (non-AC) bus while NMMC
runs a AC bus on this route. Naturally, all the
passengers prefer the non-AC bus because of its
relative cheapness. As a result, NMMT bus No
105 can be seen running with almost 80% empty
seats.
I suggest that NMMT convert this route to
non-AC route.

Mud slinging must stop
Cricketing controversies continue to haunt Indian Cricket and this
time Chappell denies he wanted to replace Dravid with Sachin and contested his account of visit to make it
clear from controversies.
Dravid was made to quit by our selectors and Greg Chappel is in no way
connected. Sourav Ganguly was
sacked because he lacked physical fitness, Harbhajan Singh showed all the
tantrums on the field and did not get a
wicket in 350 balls on the trot twice
and lost his place, Zaheer Khan was
up the hill and was in the injured list
most of the time, Sehwag lost out due
to his inconsistency, Ashish Nehra was not up to the International standards and Yuveraj Singh did not have the physical fitnesss to last for a
longer period in International Cricket and were dropped by the selectors
and not by Greg Chappell.
Sachin, who tried to save Harbhajan Singh from the Monkey Gate
Episode, did tell a lie to save Sardar of Spin and now blames the coach
after a 7 year itch. Generally, BCCI used to create controversies and now
even ex-players joined the party to show their unsporting way of expressing themselves and that too in a autobiography.
Sachin chose the wrong time to open his mind and made a silly comment after all the famous four - Sachin, Laxman, Dravid and Ganguly lost out their place of their own without the interference of the coach.
Team India held number one spot in test cricket when Greg Chappell had
sown the seeds and at present remain in sixth spot and may slip behind
New Zealand with our overseas shows going from bad to worse since the
year 2011.
It was just a tit for tat way of criticizing the coach and will not serve
any purpose in improving the standard of the game in India.

28th year of Jagaddhatri
Puja Celebrations at Bharat
Sevashram Sangha
Text and Photo by Ashok Dhamija
NAVI MUMBAI: In Hinduism, Jagaddhatri (‘the Protector of the
World’) is a form of Devi, the supreme goddess. Her worship is more
common in West Bengal than the
other parts of India. Her cult is directly derived from Tantra where
she is a symbol of sattva beside
Durga and Kali, respectably symbolized with Rajas and Tamas. In
Tantra and Purana, Jagaddhatri is
depicted as being the colour of the
morning sun, three-eyed and fourarmed, holding Chakra, conch, bow
and arrow, clothed in red, bright
jewels and nagajangopaveeta, a symbol of Yoga and the Brahman. She
rides a lion standing on the dead
Karindrasura, the Elephant Demon.
Like every year for last 28 years,
the Sannyasis of the Bharat
Sevashram Sangha celebrated Sri
Sri Jagaddhatri Puja on 1 November, 2014 at 8:00 am at Bharat
Sevashram Sangha premises in Sector – 31A, Vashi. Social workers, local public and sannyasis from different parts of the country and
abroad participated.
The highlight of the three day
celebrations was on Saturday, 1 November, 2014, with Chandi Path,
Puja of Sri Sri Jagaddhatri and was
held till well past the afternoon.
Nearly 2000 devotees participated in
the puja and yagya. The Maha Prasad was distributed to the devotees,
cancer patients and poor persons
present on this occasion.
In the evening Jagruteshwar
Haripath Mandali of Vashigaon performed Haripath followed Rudra
Arati. On Sunday, after performing
Dashami Puja and Shindur Utsav,
the idol was immersed with much
fanfare at Sector-7 pond, Vashi.
