To those that have served in the armed forces and those who are
currently serving a very BIG THANK YOU for you service.
Brethren,
We hope you are enjoying the sometimes cooler weather.
October was another busy month. After the Stated Meeting, we
attended Grand Lodge and it was another enjoyable event. Those attending
were myself, our Sr. and Jr. Wardens, Lee Whelan, Robert Gibb and Simon
Dias (who was accompanying his wife’s because of her Eastern Star duties).
The Grand Lodge business meeting dealt with: 2 Grand Master
Decisions, 6 Grand Master recommendations, 9 carry-over Resolutions from
2013 and 17 Resolutions for 2014. The per capita for 2015-16 will be $39.50.
Russ Charvonia was elected as Grand Master, David Perry was elected as
Deputy Grand Master, John Heisner was elected as Senior Grand Warden
and Bruce R. Galloway was elected Junior Grand Warden. George
Whitmore was appointed AGL for Division 8 replacing Franklin R Lee III.
There are no other appointed Grand Lodge officers from the Inland Empire
area except our Inspectors..
The voting results are interesting due to the fact the Grand Master
Decisions and Recommendations all passed. I do not remember this ever
happening. The results on the 2013 carry-over showed only 3 passed with 6
being rejected. The results of the 2014’s showed only 3 passed with 5 being
carried-over for next year, 2 withdrawn and the rest were rejected. I have
listed the successful resolutions on page 4.
In October, Brother LaRochelle was passed to the Degree of
Fellowcraft and Johnny Arias was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master
Mason. Congratulations are extended to both for their degree advancement
and their excellent proficiencies.
This month, we will again be very busy. We will be awarding a 50yr
pin to Brother Jon Humphreys at our Stated meeting. Jon is currently serving
as the Most Excellent Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch
Masons of California. Also at the Stated we will be voting on an application of
Mr. Marcus Wiley to receive the degrees of Masonry. If his application is
approved, we will have a 1st degree conferral on the 13th (get ready Jim
Scribner). On the 20th will be have a 3rd degree conferral for Brother
LaRochelle.
November is also the time for the election of officers at our Stated
Meeting, you need to attend and make sure I am voted out of office. (:
Dues notices will be mailed soon, this year the dues have been
increased to $107.00 because of the increase in per capita for 2014-2015.
We have 3 other important events this month, federal and state
elections on the 4th, Veterans Day on the 11th, and the observance of
Thanksgiving on the 28th.
We wish all of you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving and look
forward to seeing you at our Stated meetings.
Fraternally,
Gary Miller, PM
Annual Communications Results
There were 26 resolutions we voted on Friday and Saturday.
The following were passed:1) 13-04 Allows use of cipher ritual during
meetings by Officers Coach, 2) 13-21 Creates procedure to authorize
funeral expenses (which does not affect us), 3) 13-27 Modifies
minimum dues (which does not affect us), 4) 14-02 Makes correction
to Resolution 11-13 (has to do with life membership installment
payments, 5) 14-07 Modifies rules on personally identifying
information, 6) 14-17 Clarifies duties of lodge Secretary and Treasurer
(does not affect us as we are already doing the adopted resolution).
The following are carried over until next year: 1) 14-01 Clarifies
the Grand Master’s right to review a trial, 2) 14-05 Creates rules
governing cemetery property, 3) 14-11 Provides $1 per capita
assessment for the George Washington National Memorial, 4) 14-14
Adds a Grand Historian, 5) 14-16 Permits use of Candidate Learning

Riverside York Rite Bodies
Commandery meets on the 1st Wednesday at 7pm
Royal Arch Chapter and Cryptic Council meet on the
3rd Wednesday at 6:30pm (all dark July & August)
Companions and Sir Knights:
We are nearing the end of our York Rite Year
You may want to turn your attention to a “New Year in your Masonic
life.” Ask yourself if you are receiving all that is available from freemasonry?
Consider all the fascinating branches of the York Rite which are available.
You can ask any member or officer in the various York Rite Bodies
about the various orders and how to petition for membership. It does not
mean that you will be spending lots of your free time in attending other
meetings; most of them only meet one a month with a few of the bodies
meeting once to three times a year. However, it does mean that the intriguing
information/education your are missing is available for the asking.
To our existing membership this also relates to your current
participation in Templary and the other York Rite, including your attendance
at Commandery.
One way to give back some of what you have received is to attend
and offer to participate as an officer in your Commandery or understudy one
of the many parts in the Orders. Some have only a small speaking part, but
are important and very rewarding to you and your fellow Sir Knights. I am not
to proud to say that we need each of you at our meeting in our efforts to
reinvigorate and re-enthuse Riverside York Rite.
Yours in duty and faith,
Lee Whelan
Commander
Riverside Commandery #28
The dinner for lodge Stated meetings :
Turkey with all the trimmings plus pumpkin pie.
This year the low turnout for the dinners has finally caught up with us
and we have had to make a deposit into the refreshment fund which is taking
away from the general fund. So to save us from having to do this every six
months or so, we need our members to make reservations for the meals. If
we can get back up to the 30-35 range of attendance then the fund should
take care of itself. If there is a problem with our meal choices then let me
know so changes can be made for next years menus.
