INVITATION
Dear Instructor & Friend:
I hope all is going well for you and your family. This letter is to invite you and your school to attend the 2016
Montgomery County Karate Championships. As in past years I am looking for the support of traditional karate
instructors and schools that will help me display the Martial Arts in the favorable light it deserves. This is
strictly an invitational tournament.
This year’s tournament will be held at the Spring-Ford High School 9th Grade Center. The tournament will start
promptly at 10am. If you are planning on attending please advise your students to get to the event early
enough to get registered, dressed, and warmed up. If you have Adult Black Belts attending, please contact me
and give me their names so that your school will have representation in the rings. Please ask them to dress in
their school uniform and be at the event by 9:30 am. Please familiarize your students with the rules and ring
assignments provided in the mailing. This will make it easier to get them into their proper rings and avoid
confusion.
Please contact me personally if you have any questions regarding the event. I look forward to seeing you on

Cost:
$60.00 for up to 3 events for Competitors.
Competitors may only enter ONE division in forms and fighting!
Spectator Fee:
All Spectators are FREE!
Competition Begins:
10:00am SHARP! Don’t be late.
Awards:
Beautiful Awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place winners.
Participation Medals for every child 12 & Under!
Dress Code:
All competitors must be dressed in traditional uniforms of their style.
No t-shirts, fashion statements or jewelry will be allowed.
Protective Equipment:
Mandatory Head, Hand, Foot Gear, Mouthpiece and Groin Cup. Head, Hand & Foot
Gear must be foam dipped. No leather or Vinyl.

tournament rules
POINTS:
One Point for controlled kicking techniques to the head.
One Point for all other legal techniques.
LEGAL TECHNIQUES:
Controlled punches to the body, face, head and kidneys.
Punches to face and head can not make contact.
Sweeping to the front leg only, not against the joint, immediately followed by an punch or kick.
Back fist, knife-hand, ridge-hand or hammer first.
ILLEGAL TECHNIQUES:
Uncontrolled techniques, blind techniques, ripping or gouging techniques.
Head butting, finger jabs and strikes to the throat.
FOULS:
Techniques thrown to the groin, back of the head, spine, joints and shins.
Excessive holding or grabbing: No more than one second
Persistent running out of the ring to escape attack or stall.
Coaching from the sidelines.
All fouls that cause swelling, bleeding, facial discoloration or prevents injured contestant from
continuing will result in a disqualification.
CONTACT:
Contact is not allowed to the head or face area.
Head gear must be worn at all times during free-sparring.
Any deliberate or incidental contact that causes swelling, bleeding, facial discoloration or prevents the
injured contestant from continuing will result in disqualification.
PENALTY PROCEDURES:
Only two judges are needed to make the call for contacts or fouls.
The first contact will result in a warning.
The second contact will result in a disqualification.
The first foul will result in a warning.
The second foul of the same nature will result in a disqualification.
The third foul of any kind will result in a disqualification.

result not only from their actions, inactions, or negligence, but the actions, inactions, or negligence of
others, the rules of play, or the condition of the premises or any equipment used. Further, that there may
be risks not known to us or not reasonably foreseeable at this time.
Assume all of the forgoing risk and accept personal responsibility for the damages following
such injury, permanent disability, or death.
Release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Spring-Ford school district, AmKor Karate
Institutes, its affiliated clubs, or the officials, instructors, sponsors, or the participants, all of which are
hereinafter referred to as “releases”, from any and all liability to each of the
undersigned, his or her
heirs and next of kin for any and all claims, demands, losses, or damages on account of injury, including
death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of

DIRECTIONS
King Of Prussia: Traveling 422 West (coming from the Collegeville/Oaks, King of Prussia areas)
Exit at the Royersford exit. Turn left at the light at the end of the ramp. Continue on Township
Line/Walnut Street. At the fourth light turn left onto Lewis Road (auto store is on the right). At the
second light the 9th Grade building and Mc Nelly Stadium will be on the right. Additional parking at
the 10-12 building will be on the left.
Delaware: Take 202 N. to 422 W. Follow the King of Prussia Directions
Aston: Take 95 N. to 476 N. to 76 W. to 422 W. (bear right on off ramp at split then get over to the
far left to get onto 422 W.) Follow King of Prussia directions.
Northeast Extension: Take 476 S. (Northeast Extension Turnpike) to the 276 W. Turnpike. Get off
at the King of Prussia Exit. Follow signs for 422 W. (bear right on off ramp at split then get over to
the far left to get onto 422 W.) Follow King of Prussia directions.
Pottstown: Traveling 422 East (coming from the Pottstown, Reading areas)
Exit at the Royersford exit. Turn right at the light at the end of the ramp. Continue on Township
