Southeast Career Technical Academy (also known as SECTA) is a four-year comprehensive high school
and career technical academy enrolling a diverse population of approximately 1750 motivated students in grades nine through
twelve. Clark County School District middle school students apply for admission to SECTA from the populations of Las Vegas,
Henderson and Boulder City. Admitted students are selected based on academic criteria of 2.0 GPA or higher and good attendance.
Of the SECTA educational faculty, nearly 70% hold master’s degrees or higher. SECTA is accredited by AdvancEd.
SECTA students are unique in that they carry additional credits to attain a technical career certification on top of the normal credit
requirements of a high school diploma. While most CCSD high schools target the Nevada minimum of 22.5 semester credits required
to graduate, the typical SECTA senior graduates with 28 credits in addition to technical certification and/or professional licensure.
While Honors and Advanced Placement courses are part of the course curriculum, advanced technical college level classes also earn
SECTA students an additional 3 to 21 college credits before graduation. In the 2013/2014 school year, SECTA students earned the
equivalent of $65,403.00 in College of Southern Nevada college tuition credits. The SECTA success story is being closely studied by
other school districts in the nation.
