Welcome to St. Peter! While we celebrate the rich history of our parish, we strive to promote the promise of the future through the Four Pillars of Dominican Spirituality— Prayer, Study, Community and Preaching. Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic Church? Our RCIA Team would love to meet you! - Join us Thursday, December 4th at 7 p.m. Childcare available upon request. A Dominican Parish Established in 1840 November 23, 2014 OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE CLERGY Rev. Augustine DeArmond, O.P. .................Pastor [email protected] Rev. John Lydon, O.P. ....................Parochial Vicar [email protected] Rev. Mr. Eddie Ramsey................................Deacon [email protected] Rev. Dr. Paul D. Watkins, O.P. …..............Director, St. Martin de Porres Shrine and Institute [email protected] Rev. Victor E. Laroche, O.P. ................In Residence Fr. Auggie’s Reflection - Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe EZ 34:11-12, 15-17; PS 23:1-2, 2-3, 5-6; 1 COR 15:20-26, 28; MT 25:31-46 From the Gospel: “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Reflection In his encyclical Mystici Corpus, Pope Pius XII exhorts us “to live in a spirit of lively faith” so as to take to our hearts those who “are the object of our Savior’s special love: the weak” (93). It is important to be reminded from time to time that Jesus cares most for those who are weak (i.e., the poor, the sick, the imprisoned). More so, Jesus gives them to us. In other words, Jesus Christ the King has given his most valued treasure for our care and safekeeping. But, we only recognize the fullness of that gift if we live out our Christian vocation of prayer and service. Next week, we begin again the Holy Season of Advent. One challenge for each of us could be to increase our commitment to prayer and service as a sign of our renewed faith. Advent prepares us for the return of Christ. When he returns, may he find us all alive in the faith, and may he find that we have cared for the gifts he has given us to cherish. Join our parish weekly email list!
